Aldrin ST docking problems

Post by victorio404 » Tue, 9. Nov 10, 12:14

I've noticed that most of the stations in Aldrin are almost impossible to be docked by the AI. If i start a ST in Aldrin it just keeps trying to dock with some of the stations forever. And the other traders in the sector are having the same problem.
Is there a way to avoid this?

If you are in the sector, get out of the sector and they should dock immediately.

Having said that, Aldrin is a massive sector, are you sure they aren't just flying to a station which might be on the other side of the sector?

i haven't tried to fly out of the sector, but for the other ships i'm sure because they are all flying around some of the stations for LONG time.
is it possible to drag the stations away from the big rock in the middle with a tractor beam? I thing the problem is all the ships are trying to avoid the big rock from a distance...

Seriously, get out of the sector.

Unless you are there for plot reasons or building mines on the asteroids, there is no good reason for you to stay in the sector.

When you are in Aldrin collision detection will prevent any ship from docking anywhere. Once you leave the sector collision detection is turned off and ships resume normal flying.

For Terran/Aldrin stations (which are huge), getting within 14 km is usually enough to dock using the docking computer.

i know how to dock with the docking computer. the issue was with the ai controlled ships. when i'm not in the sector everithing is going well. too bad the GoD removed the EEMC Forge before i could dock a scout to save it. is there another one in Aldrin2?

You have to be inside of 4km range of any part of the station, be it an antenna or the rock a mine is built upon.

@victorio404 Afaik not. Wait for M/L variant M3s to come up in the shipyard and buy them out, they should be equipped with EEMPCs anyway.

Actually you have to be inside of 4Km range of a docking port.

No, just the mesh. You can try it with a mine or Terran station if you don't believe me. ;)
