So there I am covering the arse of one of my trading ships from a Q invasion; I jump in, lock it and in the time it take for me to hit the missile launch button the Hub Mission starting Boron Blabbers in my com and my system locks his ship....

I launch 3 Hornets up his fishy tube before I realized what had happened.

Suffice to say, he did not survive the event.

Now, my question:

Will the stupid fishy bastard respawn anytime soon or do I have to go back to an unpleasantly old save game?

i...really doubt you killed the right boron.

his ship is (supposed to be) invulnerable untill he jumps out.
then he him (is supposed to be) invulnerable at all times as well.

Trust me, by the time you get halfway through the HUB you'll wish he WASN'T indestructable. I LOL'd so hard at this.

He did say the same thing he said before "Help me my friend" or something like that, but I'll keep looking for him with my new save, hopefully I have not scattered his scales across the vastness.
