M6 question

so I purchased a used M6 Centaur for 1.5million isk. I then repaired and sold it for 6 million isk. The reason I sold it was because I was under the impression that you could dock an M6 at any location the same way you could an M3, M4, M5. It did not appear to want to let me dock at most stations so I sold it. I know it isnt a huge deal not being able to dock at places other than equipment docks and ship yards... but I am still pretty new to the game and would like to travel quickly.

Am I wrong in thinking that corvette class ships should be allowed to dock anywhere?

also, I think im going to get a dragon M6 when I get the money if I end up getting one... mainly because I am playing as split right now and I hate being slow.

M6s can dock at any station - same slot as TS/TP.

This. You most likely had too low reputation with the races you were trying to dock with.

M6's are able to dock at any station. The only ships that are restricted to Shipyards/Equipment Docks/Military Bases/Outposts are TL, M1, M2, M7 and M7M. (At least in TC)

ok thanks, it think it was an ore mine or something that I wanted to dock and and the option appeared to be grayed out, where as when I clicked on an equipment dock it was an option.

also, you can dock ships and marines in your m6 correct? I mean.. its kinda a one stop shop?

The only M6 that can dock any fighters is the Hyperion Vanguard, I think. Two hangers.

As for marines, yes: up to 5 on an M6 and you can spacewalk from them if that's your thing.

If I'm not mistaken (please correct me if I'm wrong) there are in general 3 ship sizes.

Small ships: M5, M4, M3.
Those can dock at any station and/or ship that has a hangar (M1s, some M7s, TLs and TMs).

Medium ships: M6, M8, TS, TP, TM.
Those can dock at any stations but not to ships that have hangars.

Large ships: M7, M7M, M1, M2, TL.
Those can only dock at a limited number of stations (Shipyards, Equipment Docks and all Headquarters but Jonferco's if I remember it right.)

Exceptions:
1) The Paranid M6 Hyperion Vanguard is the only M6 capable of docking small ships.
2) The ATF M2 Valhalla can dock small and medium ships.
3) The Goner TL Ozias can dock only TSs, TPs and TMs.
4) The Goner M1 Aran can dock ships of any size, only 1 Large ship.
5) The Kha-ak M1 Carrier can't dock any ships.

It's based on your notoriety with the mission giver's race. iirc, they can show up when you have enough rep to actually buy the ship.

I'm *fairly* sure your Trade rank may also affect it too, but I'm not 100% sure on that one.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't (or didn't last time I looked through the code).

EDIT: Also, M6 & TM will only show up at shipyards.

all I know is that I had just finished making a little over a milliion isk... then saw it for sale with like... 60% hull and knew I needed to buy it. Then I was able to turn a huge profit (6 million) after I spent forever with a repair laser of course...

if only you could buy big repair lasers and strap them to a discoverer or something... that could just follow you around and fix your ship.
