Yaki weirdness (rep-related)

Post by Callidus Thorn » Tue, 25. Jan 11, 21:56

So here's the thing: I started with the Terran defender start, and all Yaki were hostile to me, and generally jumped out of any system I arrived in before I could try to take on their mission.

Since I couldn't gain rep that way, I jumped to Ocracokes Storm and found Akumas and escorts waiting for me. I eventually found the shipyard, and that too was hostile to me. So I thought to hell with this, now I'm pissed off. I took out three of their Akumas (I dropped 40 mk2 fighter drones on the first, then used bombers to take out the other two), and the next time I visited Ocracokes, the shipyard was no longer hostile, nor were the Yaki ships after I apologized to them. I managed to get a mission off a still red Yaki, destroyed a three ship convoy (costing me some Argon rep) and they let me buy ships and enter Weavers Tempest.

It seems I actually gained Yaki rep for destroying some of their ships.

Is this normal? I've never tried gaining Yaki rep before, but surely something can't be right.

I too have noticed yaki rep wierdness. I used to use a script to regularly see all reps, numerically. I noticed that frequently, doing things for pirates, or certain plot related features could also have a positive effect on yaki rep. But only occurring around the -2 to +2 range. I'd always put it down to a silly numbers thing more than an actual effect tho

I believe the Goner plot improves Yaki & Pirate rep.

If I blow up the Yaki shipyard will it spawn blue later? Like Dukes HQ?

I believe the ones already spawned at start, no matter your rep, will always be enemies.

Blow them, let the new ones respawn and you are ok.

Some blow the Duke's HQ so that the new one will be friendly.

Not true. As your rep improves, all Yaki ships will turn blue. I never see red Yaki ships, unless it's because I've been caught borrowing their ships. And apologizing works, just as it does for the other races.

interesting events.

I usually do a load of pirate station build missions,and/or get a pirate to hack a Yaki station for me.

Once in their favour, do the return ship missions...only I don't return them.
I send them to the Yaki shipyard and either keep them or repair and sell to the Yaki.

The Yaki are so grateful(sp?) that they deal with any police for me.

Ok, I have not blown up any Yaki for about a month of game time. I only boarded one within the first week Ryu. The second week I blow them up in savage spur. My rep is Assasin. Every time I jump into new sectors I might see a yaki with a mission but he jumps out the moment i enter.

I set up a space fuel in Ock storm, been running for 30 days, I have blow up pirates for about two weeks that enter the space and still when i comm them to say sorry none will talk to me.

That why I figured I would nlow up the shipyard to see if it gives me a jump start since nothing else works.

Ok the yaki are red, the shipyard is blue but the yard refused me docking and the yaki tell me to go stick my head in a black hole??

Any yaki found in a sector with a mission still jump out as I comm with them to accept a mission?

So tell me what is wrong?

Wait, you mean destroying the shipyard worked?

Try looking for Yaki in sectors like cloudbase south west, a small sector means you're immediately in comm range. If you're quick and don't read what the mission, you might be able to accept it before they jump out. That's what I did, and I managed to get a mission.

Good luck

I have not blown up the blue yaki ship yard yet. But might try it.

Southwest random Yaki............
I have jumped into or flow into I would say 16 sectors where I from one to three yaki and a mission quest. the last 7 I was able to get as far as clicking whats the job detials and they jump out of sector on me. About 2.5 secs pass after I get into any sector.

I think my game rep with them is screwd some how. i have killed like 40 pirates in Oks storm, Kill off one Kacck invasion in a yaki sector and they are still some pretty stuck up buch of bandits to me.

which gamestart did you pick?

I think (but I might be wrong) that the first option when you comm them is to ask about the job they're offering. So pressing enter repeatedly should work better than clicking options.

I think that's how I managed to get a job off a hostile Yaki.

I think your only option is to get a pirate to hack a Yaki Station for you.
