Question - More marines on an M6?

Basically the subject lines says it all. Can I edit my M6 (Truelight Seeker) to hold more than 5 marines?

I'm playing a heavily cheat based game with my M6 kitted out like a pocket M2 and was trying out boarding the other night.

is it possible to up the capacity (as it is for cargo, shields etc.) or is it predefined by ship class?

Not sure on the Marine part but to make any alterations to a ship, you'd have to make the changes via the Tship file.

It is predefined as ship class, but there are 2 fields in tships that define ship class. The 2nd feild (in x3editor) controls the number of marines. If you change that to M7M, then you can have 20 marines.

@apricotslice Is that the ID or Sub Type? Also will it affect anything else in the gameplay?

You dont change both of them, only the second one.

Then it remains an M6 and you can dock it normally.

The more I get into X modding, the more I have to shake my head. That's such a bizarre way of doing it. Would have been way more flexible to just have a parameter for marine capacity...

Very true, but thats the way the devs coded it, so we are stuck with it.

They only wanted to give marines to a very limited group of ships, so probably did not want to have to code a value for every ship.
