Easy way to get notoriety up?
I need to get my novereighty up so i can buy a factory from the Argon.
What are the fastests ways to get it up? Apart from killing things in their sectors?
Also, any tips for an X2 Veteran X3TC Noob would be appreciated!

Missions are the fastest way of raising your rep, that I've found(besides killing things, of course!)
Trading does raise rep too, but slowly.

I'd like to shoot you in the butt with a EBC gun, hide in the asteroids and laugh at what I done, put a blood blister upon each bun, I'd like to shoot you in the butt with a EBC gun.
Some people are like slinkies, not worth a whole lot, but they bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

Well i started doing this one mission ages ago, only just got back onto X3TC.
I started as an Argon patriot ( I love the Argon ) and i have been doing missions for the USC. There's this undercover mission, and i have to kill this Teladi drug smuggler, i've attempted it 3 times, but i always get pwned by fighters. Any tips? I have an elite, not much upgraded. Actually, none at all. I've been saving up for a factor. I have 1.3 mil.

You can leave that mission chain and come back anytime you are ready. So don't sweat it too much.
Elites are nice little M4s, but you gotta get it tuned, fully shielded etc to have a hope really.
Factories, especially cheap ones are not massively fast way to make credits. You'd probly be better off at this stage to invest in tuning your Elite. And maybe saving/looking out for a decent deal on an M3.
In my recent game I found a Perseus Raider for sale from some random for 1.3mill. I was well happy with that

See, i have no idea where to find things like that, and whether the ships would be any good.
The reason i want a factory is because i read this on another post:
Build a 1MJ shield complex in Argon Prime. The shields will be bought by the AI traders like crazy if you set the selling price of the shields to 1 Cr below the average price (you don't even need your own trading ship to sell them). You can expand the complex massively and even then it will always be sold out - i have 16 1MJ shield factories in a complex in Argon Prime and it is always sold out. Some people here in the forum even write that they have 64 or more shield factories in Argon Prime.

Bearing in mind that to supply a 1mj shield factory you will have to buy in energy, ore and a tier 2 food (probly cahoonas).
So not only will you need to buy a ships to serve it, but it will also require a fairly substancial "float" of credits to get it started.
Guestimate a startup cost of roughly 3mill to buy it all and another mill or so as starting funds.
A good tip. If you spot a ship for sale (blue ship flying around with C trade mission symbol on it). Comm him and see exactly what he's offering for how much.
Then tab out and check it here:

You can make some good profits as well as laying your hands on ships you do not have the ability to buy normally. Be that rep or not even available for sale.

Thanks alot man. All of X3's symbols confuse me. I have an Argon discoverer (Full speed upgrade) and the Elite. I got the Disco from a quest mission thingy. Should i just sell it or keep it for exploring?

No offense, it's spelled notoriety.
And, what the others said, do missions, kill pirates in their space. You can also kill Argons in Paranid space for Paranid rep and vice versa for Argon rep.
Oh sorry, my bad, total noob at any sort of LEGIT gameplay.. :L I cheated through X2 and X3R to get to the shiz.... X3TC.

If that's the Advanced Discoverer you get in the Terran plot-line, Keep it. I don't think you'll ever get another shot at one, & IMAO it's the best utility M5 in the game (the Kestrel is good for speedruns, that's it), & you may want to Reverse Engineer & manufacture them when you've got your PHQ.Vortexz wrote:Thanks alot man. @Tormbo, I have said grammar nazi in my head too, but I didn't comment in case the words spelling was correct for some language other than english.

Next Ship.
I think you should maybe think about aquiring a TS or two. You could cap a pirate TS or buy an Argon one, you can trade in it or use it with the right equipment to go nividium mining. You will need TSs to service your factory anyway so as well as earning credits now you can look upon it as being an investment in your future.
As mentioned previously you should spend money now on any speed, steering, shields, jump dives, you can afford in any ship you have. This might seem like spending credits on luxuries but it is not, the X universe is a competitive and dangerous environment, credits spent on giving you an edge are credits well spent.
May Egosoft go with you my friend!

The BANISHED RETURNS.
HEALTH WARNING! Steam Damages Freedom Of Speech!
Congratulations Egosoft on increasing memory usage from 2 to 3 Gb.
Bin playing X too long when Egosoft refuses to sell you their latest game?
The only steam I want is in my kettle! STEAM=GAME OVER.

That's up to you. You'll find there's a lot you can do in an M4, and a few things you can't.
Personally, I'm not a fan of the Elite as a personal ship, but others are.
Me, I like the Buster, Buster Raider in particular, or the Split Scorpion. Fast, and moderately, or lightly shielded (Buster, Scorpion respectively). Both of them mount Mass Drivers, which are shield ignoring weapons. Scorpion is faster, but less shielded.

Buying 2x 25MJ shields and full engine/rudder/cargo upgrades will set you back around 190K cr. 170K of that 190K is to buy the shields, which can be transferred over to any fighters you buy later on.
The Elite isn't a weak ship at all. Especially when you get it upgraded. Ofc an M3 will be stronger, but they are also much more expensive.

Give me a mamba or give me death!
As a straight choice of either keeping your Discoverer or selling it to upgrade
your Elite, I'd keep the Disco every time.
At this stage of your game you'll make a load more money ferrying passengers around in the Discoverer than you would doing anything with
a partly upgraded Elite.
Just remember to get a Cargobay Life Support System from the nearest
Pirate base (there are other places you can get it as well), so that your
passengers don't die from lack of oxygen.

People are 6 medium size (M) cargo units each, so when you are offered the mission you can work out if you have enough cargo space to
take them.
You wont be able to do missions that ask for a TP class ship, or ones that
refer to luxury transport.

Thanks, i have no idea about the whole mining thing. :L If you could explain? I upgraded my Elite and my Disco, i still have 500000. I attacked some random dukes dangerous goods transporter? They ejected and i got a hermes i think. Is that good enough? And also, i've briefly read things about getting player Hq's? Is this true? ANd do you have to do a campaign of misssions to get it? Try to avoid spoilers please.
