Hyperion internal M6 dock problem.

Post by RichardDaborn » Sat, 5. Feb 11, 11:42

After an age trying to board my dream ship, the Hyperion and failing. I finally found one adrift after a RFF battle abandoned by its crew by the NPC bail script I use.

Naturally I was in like Flynn as they say, took command of the ship sent it to a Split shipyard to be fixed.

30 mil of repairs later I was ready to fly my new m6+ out of the internal docking bays. I launched and suddenly realised the Hyperion doesnt fit the internal docking bays like it did x3r Xtended mod. For some reason the docking ports no longer fit the Hyperion.

I splattered all over the inside, game over. I reloaded and had to get another ship to come get me, fly oos then command the Hype to follow oos.

So Hyperion Jocks be warned do not dock at m6 internal bays. You dont fit.

Let the autopilot undock your ship for you. Then everything works without problems.

Yeah, for some reason the Hyperion docks internally at Super Shipyards. I had the exact same thing happen in Queens Retribution when I got my first Hyperion. It's a fairly well known issue. I think I remember someone saying that you can get around it by giving your ship a command whilst still docked (like say, jump and fly to position), but I've not tried that personally.

You mean let the ship fly out on its own and to go meet it after.

No, you can issue a ship command whilst it's still docked, you don't need to change ship.

Aye I can confirm that. Had that issue at an Aldrin base, undock = boom!

But 1 move to position command later I was out and alive with nary a scratch

I usually have to change ships to get out, rather than the auto-pilot being helpful. Queen's Retribution is bad about this.

Of course, there shouldn't be a problem flying a Hyperion. Just jump in one of the docked fighters.

I've noted the problem (actually bought split M5 to get out LOLz) but it's not related to hyperion, to me it happend in M6 nemesis and in springblossom too.

I always use dock at... command and choose a random station, once out I switch to manual again.

I've had it in a P, PX, and Pirate Osprey.

They really need to oversize the bays like the Aran has.

yer the hyp & springy have large tail planes which courses the docking & un docking problems.
Can also be a problem on clamps too if all clamps are occupyed if your tail plane makes contact with another ship boom!

The trick flying the hyp when un-docking is to strafe down away from the clamp before turning so your tail plane is clear of all other ships

The Aran and the shipyards have exactly the same bays :P .

Docking bays, yes, but measured against my Kestrel the Aran's launch bays seem bigger. Of course I might have been closer with one than the other, but they do seem bigger.
