Strip it for Blue Prints and build one for every reload. It made me feel much better.

:o What to do with it you are joking right.

You only captured one of the best M6's in the game.

Fly it.

It's a fun little ship to fly. Fast and manuverable for an M6. 1GJ worth of shields. You can go up against anything M7 on down with little fear. Even M1s and M2s will fall to you with a bit of ingenuity and fancy flying.

Get in it and fly it! The Hyperion is my favorite personal ship. Its fast, maneuverable, well-shielded, pretty well-armed (including being the only commonwealth ship that can launch the best missile in the game: wraiths!), and its the only M6 that has a docking bay (I like to keep a Kestral in there to zip around in and leave the other spot open for capped fighters)

I'm not sure I understand the question, but if you're asking which skills level up during boarding ops, it seems to just be fighting. All the other skills can only be leveled up through training at Military Outposts. But I might be wrong about that, I usually get them pretty well trained before sending them out on an op, so I might just not notice the difference.

EBC and lots of ammo works wonders

Also I found PBG's up front quite handy!

I usually go with PACs in the rear and HEPTs everywhere else. I'm keeping 4 PBEs on hand as well for "acquiring" other Paranid ships. :pirat: And, of course, nothing kills capitols faster than the PBG!

Well done, Sieg 06660!

I flew mine as my personal ship, until I got a Springblossom. Then the Hype became my number one support ship, delivering Jumpdrives, Transporters, E and such to wherever I was. I liked the Hype enough that the last few games I started as the Poisoned Paranid so I could get the overtuned Hype. Speed 210 is fast enough for me, but some pilots have even more.

With the trouble you had, you probably know that your next acquistion should be an M7M.

Capping is the best part of the game for many of us. I find that I can take any ship in the TC universe with 10 marines that are 100 in all categories, including fighting. (Except Xenon ships take more.) You can get your fighting training by boarding M6 and M7 ships on Abandoned Ship and Return Ship missions. You could just claim the ships, but it is the training you want. These ships are not moving, and have no weapons and shields. You can steal them or return them at your choice.

When you have the M7M, you can also take Stolen ship missions for an M6 or M7, or grab unescorted M7Ms, for further training.

Good Hunting!

Using wraiths the Hyp can take out anything in the game. Dog fight if you want. If you can't be bothered nuke it from a distance ("it's the only way to be sure"!)

It can handle pretty much anything a player is likely to want to do himself. For those occasions when it's not fast enough, use one of the docked ships. :)

Congratz on the cap! :D

If I'm flying my personal Hyp I tend to kit it out thusly:

Main: 4x PBE/4x ISR (split into two groups for shield stripping or quick kill)
Front Turrets: 4x EBC set to "Attack my Target"
Rear Turrets: 6x PAC set to "Missiles Only"

I also keep 4x PBG on board and a wealth of missiles (Hornets FTW!) and a selection of HEPTs/CIGs in case I need them. One of the Hyps best features is its huge cargo bay!

For OOS use I'd probably strip the main and front turrets and replace them with CIGs/HEPTs

Well you've got a M7M so any ship is a potential target. But if you are in Paranid space I would go for their other unique ship the Agamemnon. :pirat:

8 x PBG are even more powerful but lack range. 4+4 combined with your long range weapon of choice (ISR, CIG or HEPT) is way to go. Just IMHO there's no need for both back turrets on "missile defense" they shoot far to rarely then. For one I recommend "protect the ship" setting.

8x PBG in the mains is pretty deadly. EBC in the mains works well too. Go with PBEs if you want to force some bail outs. You can even mix and match if you want. I found ISRs/CIGs drain to fast so skip them unless you really want that range advantage.

For the front turrets, HEPT/EBC are good if you are hunting capital ships, otherwise stick PACs in there for better anti-fighter firepower. PACs in the back is your only real option.

Also I'd recommend Mosquito Missile Defense. Don't waste the firepower of your back turrets on missile defense. You got the cargo for a hundred or so mosquitoes so you might as well use it. Also go for EBC over HEPT. You got the cargo space so you can easily afford to carry a few hundred cases of the stuff.

Also one word of warning. That nose sticks out a bit. If you are primarily a fighter pilot, you will ram a mess of M6's/M7s until you get the hang of it. This can turn deadly fast.

Edit: for your next capture, get yourself an Aggy. 6GJ of shields on a M7 is very nice and it has decent front turret coverage. Either that or cap yourself a shrike for it's gauss cannons.

congrats, that Hyperion ship you capped is my most useful M6, and I agree with other posts here that it is close to the best you can get in the game, and for me it is the best. I stopped using my Vidar after capping my first HyperIon (I also used the Springblossom for a long time but in the end, was never comfortable flying around in a M6 that looked like a giagantic dog - reminds me of a jackyall or something ... :) ).

If you want to keep annoying the Paranid Priest Duke, then try getting an Aggammemmnonn thingy - there are a few usually on patrol flying around in the paranid sectors near Cardinals Domain. Scan them till you find one without firwall software or polarisation for an easy boarding... waiting till it goes into a pirate sector helps too ... if your rep with Paranid means anything...
[XTrilogy]: Holy Argnu cows! I have found it! An asteroid of pure ore - 100% - I am rich! Now, I just need to find one like that made from silicon. hmmm, where do I want to go today?
