Hunting for Yaki Tenjin - will it ever bail?
Not too long ago one Tenjin bailed but I run streight into it. I realy want that ship so I went hunting.
I spent last few hours in Savage Spur, killed dozens of Tenjins but none of them bailed. What is it with Yaki and their determination to hold to the bitter end?
Does the size or type of ship I'm in matter when AI decides to bail or not?

AFAIK the only two things that determine the % chance of bailing is the pilot morale (a hidden value) and how fast you lower the shields and hull to the bailing value, that is why PBE are the best capping tools on the game.
Rather than try to make a pilot jump ship every few seconds just save before you engage, go full attack with PBEs and reload if he doesn't bail after the hull goes below 80%. I usually get what I want on less than 10 reloads.

I second the use of no more than a pair of PBE (also PRG or even IRE!) for the hull damage phase of a bail capture attempt. It is not just how quickly you lowered the shields (although that seems to help some) but it also seems to be how many separate shots land on target just after the hull crosses the top bailing level as each shot then generates a reasonable bail chance. That is why low hull damage quickfire weapons seem best for this capture phase.
I also find that once the target hull gets much below the top bailing level, it helps to let the target shields recharge a bit to get a moderate chance of a low value hull bail.

A dog has a master; a cat has domestic staff.
So the reloadings may not make much of a difference if I run into some tough guy.Observe wrote:No. The parameter in Jobs remains for the life of the spawned ship.cmdnenad wrote:Does the morale change after reload?
I can't buy one at the moment because I blew up the shipyard. Besides, if I make Yaki my friends (which I doubt it's possible any more), who will I fight then?AgamemnonArgon wrote:I bought one, (well, four actually....) - and it is a really good fighter, it has turrets.
That being said, why not just make friends with the Yaki ?

Still no luck with Tenjin.
But guess what - while I was attacking it, a Susanowa came after me and its pilot almost instantly bailed.
not what I hoped for, but it's better than nothing. Needless to say, the pilot is heading for the nearest pirate base to be enslaved.
As for the Tanjin, better luck next time...

Make friends with Yaki?? Never!pjknibbs wrote:Why don't you stop blowing the Yaki up, get friendly with them, and just buy a Tenjin from their shipyard in Senator's Badlands? Or does that solution not have enough of the old ultra-violence about it for your taste?
Besides, since my rep with them is -61320 (I just checked), it could take a lot of time and effort, if it's possible at all.

both chimera and skate prototype have very similar stats to tenjin, first can be bought and second found abandoned.
i use one currently with spitfire on my hype, thought of capping pirate kea with it few days age but got killed by kea elite /buster escort. i've been flying M6 for too long, got used to heavy shielding :-)

Yeah, but none of these have the looks of Tenjin.deca.death wrote:both chimera and skate prototype have very similar stats to tenjin, first can be bought and second found abandoned.
Besides, to beat the enemy one has to know him, and what better way then possesing his equipment ?
It's easy to get spoiled, isn't it? Lately I often buzz around in a kestrel with turbo booster. Wouldn't wanna forget myself and attack someone with it, especialy after the booster eats half the shields...deca.death wrote:i use one currently with spitfire on my hype, thought of capping pirate kea with it few days age but got killed by kea elite /buster escort. i've been flying M6 for too long, got used to heavy shielding
Bah - I just captured that blasted Frenrir and Mjolnir in my Griffon equiped with 2 IRE and 2 ID.... they bailed on the 15th try... my 3th using the Griffon. I do not know if it is hardcoded, but both pilots were Split.
I am pretty sure you can get almost every fighter bailed with enough patience and reloads.

I bought several of those too, well shielded, and very fast fighter.
How about buying a few of those, they're really good in a fight.

Not necessarily. You just need to somehow get a mission to build a station in Yaki space--unfortunately that generally requires that there's a pirate base in there somewhere, so you'd have to keep blowing pirate bases up until one respawns in Yaki territory. Such a base can offer build missions to build in a Yaki sector, and if you carry one of those out, the result is a Yaki-controlled station that is not hostile to you and may offer further missions that will help your Yaki rep. Doing it this way your rep will increase quite rapidly.cmdnenad wrote: Besides, since my rep with them is -61320 (I just checked), it could take a lot of time and effort, if it's possible at all.

and, as have been said before, you could increase yaki rep by doing missions for their fighters with "target" mission mark throughout the space. there is a litle catch: they are destroy convoy missions directed mainly vs paranid or other commonwealth species. also some of people reported that best way of cacthing them (little buggers seem to jump-flee very often) is first to approach end comm them later (not to approach to selected ship)
