collect satellites via command console?
So... I accidentally ejected a whole load of satellites instead of just one. Is there a way I can order my TS to pick them back up? Sigh.
Provided it popped out as a cargo box containing a bunch of satellites (as opposed to a cloud of satellites)...
- Equip any ship with Special Command Software Mk1.
- Command console -> Special... -> Collect Ware...
- Select the cargo crate on the sector map.
I don't think they will have done--if you drop satellites the game assumes it's because you want them online and functional, not packed away in a crate doing little of use.StarSword wrote:Provided it popped out as a cargo box containing a bunch of satellites (as opposed to a cloud of satellites)...
They dropped as a cloud of satellites. It would be nice if satellites counted as "wares", but maybe there's a reason not to do this.
I attempted to fly the TS through the cloud while OOS, but this didn't do anything. (I didn't really expect it to.)
So I flew to the system, switched into the TS, and picked up all the satellites manually.

The reason not to treat them that way is because dropping a satellite from your cargo bay is how you deploy them--if it just dropped as a crate containing a satellite it wouldn't be of much use, would it?intently wrote:They dropped as a cloud of satellites. No, but you generally drop them one at a time. I've never dropped an entire bay's worth all at once, so I had no idea whether they would drop as a crate or as satellites.
Though I have put extensive networks in several sectors I transit frequently, chiefly Aladna Hill, Akeela's Beacon, Omicron Lyrae, and the Asteroid Belt.
A tip to the OP: If you drop a satellite in a sector with a shipyard, you can buy ships remotely. (Actually, you can do this if you have any sensor-equipped assets in that sector -- factories, satellites, mines, ships, argnu in spacesuits, whatever -- but using satellites is easy and cheap.) Just make sure you drop it somewhat off the major trade lanes: pirates, Kha'ak, and Xenon love to take potshots at satellites.

Of course, but they could show up as a valid selection for the "collect wares" commands.pjknibbs wrote:The reason not to treat them that way is because dropping a satellite from your cargo bay is how you deploy them--if it just dropped as a crate containing a satellite it wouldn't be of much use, would it?intently wrote:They dropped as a cloud of satellites.
