Cluster Flak + Ion D

Post by handy388 » Mon, 9. May 11, 04:23

So I heard about this very effective combo, and a couple questions

1. I heard ion D chains with cluster flak projectile, does it do this with regular flak projectile?

2. Will this allow ion D to reach all the way up to 2km?

No.

Yep, a lot further if the enemies are close enough.
Just saying it forward: I give everyone 2 posts to make good, in context posts(proper english, as always, is optional). After that I'm ignoring what you have to say in that thread that's directed to what we previously were talking about.

It will however chain from dropped loot. So the more you kill, the more effective it gets.

It is also brutally effective at destroying your rep if used in regular space! You have been warned! XD

It's one of the reasons why the Akuma is my favourite M2 (despite e.g. Boreas having the rep as 'best' M2). Akuma's shielding may be a bit thin but it has double-sized upper & lower turrets (i.e. 8 guns compared to 4 on most other M2s) which are compatible with Ion-D, Flak & Cluster Flak - the combination is horrifically effective at chomping through fighter swarms. Also has the added benefit of making the ship virtually invulnerable to missiles, which tend to get zapped at least 1km away from the hull.

I also strongly prefer the akuma. I didn't even discover the ionized flak back then, I just thought it's the only destroyer that looks good (reminds me of ships from freespace 2)

I think the great thing about Akuma is that it's quite fast, and it hit hard with good gun banks. Usually a destroyer does not need that much of shielding because you have time to jump away.
