(TC 3.1) Spacewalk Boarding M7M

Post by mian_tylmiran » Wed, 29. Jun 11, 07:36

With the new changes to boarding to make it harder, is it still possible to spacewalk board an M7M with 5 marines? I tried with my group of five, but it seems they land as 2 teams. I'm using Cycrow's Improved Boarding mod, which gives them a speed boost. They seem to split into teams of 2 and 3, but they land together. I usually lose 1 at deck 1, 1 at deck 2, and the rest on deck three. These are 5 star in everything marines. If they landed as 1 team, would they have a better chance? Or is it even possible now?
The two things a girl needs in the X3 universe: A ship that can utterly level a sector without much hassle. And a sensible pair of heels that go with it.

Why would you use only 5 making a already hard thing even harder? Here is what you should do (if you have no more marines): visit several military bases /anarchy ports and buy 5 more marines - best you can find. Then find target, isolate it, kill off escorts by ramming, make it fire all missiles, fry it wit IonDs, then enter TP with 10 marines (order your supporting ships /drones to attack shields - quick attack low damage weapons required, like PBEs or PRGs, not too many) position yourself then SAVE THE GAME

Then it's up to try/mistake method. With a little luck they will arrive in the same time. Save on each deck. Use several save slots.

Less marines may die on deck one. After they reach deck two, they all fight together and it doesn't have any impact how they boarded the ship.

They would do better if they landed together. The splitting into 2 & 3 is a bug introduced when they did all the boarding changes (v2.5?). It makes M6 boarding much (much!) harder.

Is it still possible to get an M7M with M6 boarding? Probably, with enough reloads. But, as deca.death suggested, using a TP to send a few more marines would make it much (much) easier. And using two to send 20 even more likely to succeed!

If you're careful, you can in fact use both an M6 with five and a TP with an additional 10 to make things easier, since you're both dropping marines and controlling the shields, while the TP is busily deploying it's own. It also makes it easier to get through that hard first deck.

No. You need, at a minimum, 10 good marines. Even 5 elite marines will fail an M7M boarding, or at the very least, you'll lose several. If this is my first M7M and I only have smaller ships, I bring, at least, an M6 and a TP loaded with (average or better) marines (15 total). It can also be done using two TP's with 20 somewhat subpar marines, too, but you'll take losses. Anyway, that's been my experience.
Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.

X4 is a journey, not a destination. Have fun on your travels.
