X3TC: Goner Plot Endgame Question

Post by Big_Mike_643 » Mon, 11. Jul 11, 18:26

Ok, I am up to the point in the Goner missions where you have to destroy the pirate base. I have the 35 Space Weed, and the 60 SQUASH Mines loaded up on my fully shielded Terran Vidar M6. I need to deliver these supplies to the Pirate Base. I jump in and am immediately wasted buy a legions of pirates ranging from M1 and M6s, to M5s, all camping the gate.

How the hell am I supposed to make it to that station to deliver the items, if I can not even make it to the station?

Wait a while until the M1 and its escorts moves on elsewhere as it is probably a standard game Pirate capital patrol and not part of the plot mission.

There is no "other gate" in Gaian Star.

Maybe get a fast ship like a Kestrel and draw the pirate ships away from the gate, then head back and transfer back to your Vidar. Once the pirate capitals are away from the gate you shouldn't have any problems keeping out of tbeir weapons range.

I did that one in a Mercury. XD

I just... kinda... flew? Dodged. And used a docking computer. And LUCK.

The difficulty of the mission really depends on how well you get along with the pirates. In my most recent plot game, I played as a pirate, so I had no difficulty with them. Only the plot-related pirates were red to me. However, if the pirates really, really don't like you, and you've been blowing them up whenever you see them, chances are you've managed to congregate hordes of them, including their capital ships, in those few sectors south of Merchants Haven. And now you're reaping the rewards. :pirat:

Buy a few cheap fast M5's to use as lures away from the gate not just one. Around four or so, send them far out from the center.
Then you can head to the station. If you have extra credits jump in an M8/M7M and barrage the annoying ships. An M8 OOS barrage will instakill anything, though any remaining missiles will be lost (For instance if you launch a single barrage at an M6 it will vaporize, if you launch more barrages the missiles will just be wasted. Most capitals only take 2 or 3 to remove via M8, double for hammer heavy M7M.).
