After getting the Unfocussed Jump Drive at the end of the Goner missions, I thought the Goners were pretty useless.

But the Goner Temple is well placed for you to get your JD and Transporters. I've been using a lot of Salvage Insurance, and the Goner Temple is well placed to buy that. I had to do some missions to get high enough rep for that. The Goner Temple is fairly close to the Gate, and all the Goner stations are in Comm range.

Summary: It is well worth doing missions for the Goners, even later. And the Goner Temple is worth making a stopping place for you and your fleet.

Too bad the Goner Temple doesn't support capital ship docking.
