What are the Yaki doing there? ( X3TC )

Post by greypanther » Wed, 10. Aug 11, 22:31

Last night I was checking out the mobile mining ops in unknown 16/0, after doing so went next door into Xenon sector 534, ( I think ) only to find a dozen Yaki fighters by the gate! They then flew of north, away from any gates! I decide to follow and help them dispose of the Xenon they obviously encounter, well until we happy bunch run into a J, 2 Ks and 3 Qs! At that point I jump out and don't want to play!

Just what were they doing there? Where were they going?

What about you all, what have you seen where that was very out of place?

i had a Paranid task force (heavy nemisis and bout dozen or so fighters) ATTACKING Xenon sector 598....

i also found a Terran Osaka floating about Maelstrom once as well, no escort no nothing, just flying about.

i think there is some sort of random generator, its just highly unlikly, either that or its the programming ghosts thats came back, i remember talking with programmers years ago that said they witnessed their game doing something the programming said it cant

I love random encounters like these. I still remember when I first started playing x3tc(first X game I really stuck with) I was just about to head back to Terran space to finish up a plot mission. I enter the Jonferco HQ system and a huge Kha'ak invasion jumps in. It's pretty cool seeing 2 large fleets just go at it, even from dock because I was too scarred about getting blow up.

I hope Rebirth has more random events to spice the game up from time to time.

.

Yaki's are everywhere, they are in unknown sector south of ANH sector, in pepertual sin, across the whole map. They probably spawn randomly, like regular pirates.

They are the same as the Xenon, they get everywhere. Only last night I had a Xenon N flying through Argon Prime. :o It didn't seem to be in a hurry.

I remember doing the final OFF mission and as I was looking through the list to see what I was up against there were 4 Pirate M3's right on the edge of the radar, guess they were wiating to do some looting after the battle. A few minutes later sitting in my fully loaded Minotaur cackling as Khaak Destroyers went boom I decided "sod it" and fired everything I had. When the flails and hammers finished off the Khaak they turned and went for the Pirates, the flails ran out of fuel but the hammers finished them off leaving no red signatures in the sector.

It sure is awesome when stuff like this happens though. My experience was exploring the sector maps for the first time, and stumbling into Xenon 101. I was greeted by an Argon crusade against them; M1s thru M5s, the whole deal.

Naturally, I racked up a few kills myself in my little M4... But that's easy to say when you're cowering behind a Titan. 8)

I never knew races are invading on xenon! Probably because there is no satellites in xenon sectors, and you not go into them very often anyway. I think that standard race invading fleet wouldn't last long in xenon sector anyway.

It's quite common for Race invasions of sector 101. I've seen Argon, Teladi and Split go into that sector, they very rarely come out again.

this reminds me of a X3:R game i played where the khaak completely wiped out kingdoms end with two M2's and a crap-ton of clusters. They killed everything in sector only the shipyard and trading stations survived, and no amount of backup from the other systems arrived/could deal with the khaak.

At the time i was noob and didnt realise the trade oppurtunities elsewhere, in any case, my "milk run" of bofu was disrupted so i restarted the game ^^

I cleared out 101 and then some Argons showed up to battle the xenon. They flew around for a while doing nothing. That party was boring. I left (and presumably the xenon exacted revenge on them).
Split now give me death? Nah. Just give me your ship.

in the programming apparently, as i said the guys i used to talk to worked with activision and apparently they had pretty much finnished and during beta testing the game was doing something that by rights it shoudn't have been able to because it wasn't programmed, it was the original Star Trek Armada game, and apparently the AI was pretty much setting up ambushes, but when they done their final tweeks after testing it stopped, but they said the fixes they had done had nothing to do with that aspect of the AI and none of them could work out how the game was doing it.

although that is apparently common from what ive been told, especially beta versions of games, weither thats true or not i dont know

Yaki are seen all over the place.

What blags my head is some of the other random things I've seen. Like a Terran Sabre trying to kill Paranid Prime shipyard. Or the Deimos+escorts I saw seemingly attacking X472 from Thyn's Abyss?

I done a teladi patrol mission and it asked me to go patrol xenon sector next to eighteen billion (I think) anyway I realy wasnt up for going in there as I was still just in my little scimitar. But greed got the better of me and I thought I'd have a peek on the other side. When I gated in it was completly empty nothing on gravidar, so I headed for the center and started seeing large ships in the sector. Once I got close enough it turned out to be a teladi task force made out of a few M1/M2/M7/M6's and alot of fighters needless to say I barely got to kill anything only a few M3/M4's but they even blew up the shipyard haha. Wonder how long it will take the xenon to recover from that.
