X3 Terran Conflict: Moving Ore Mine L with Tractor Beam need help!
I am having problems using the tractor beam as it won't fire. Here's a screenshot of the ore mine I am trying to tow.

I can fire PAC using the back turret of a Mistral freighter (4,000 cargo class) but when I switch to the tractor beam it won't fire. Am I doing something wrong here?
P.S. I am using the vanilla version with the bonus pack.

Oh wow and here I thought if you can equip it, it will work lol. I gave the tractor beam to my Spit Elephant and it work like a charm. Thanks guys for addressing the energy issue.
Here's a link of showing it worked

btw where is your mining rig?
or do you have a script that let's you tow 'roids without mines attached?
Usually I aim at the upper most part of the mining rig, so as to finish up with it facing the way I want it.
Aim the beam for the center of the docking arm. That's the best place to tow from.
And all Split Caiman variant TS have enough energy to fire the Tractor Beam, though I'm pretty sure only the Miner can mount it.

I'm having a similar problem. I have my tractor beam mounted on my Mammoth on the rear turret. It fires fine (but quickly reduces to 0%). However I can't seem to 'grab' the asteroid. I fire straight at it, in line with my aim reticles and nothing seems to happen. I am about 3km from the asteroid
I think therefore I am

@ Ronin677: This is an old thread and not the same problem at all - the OP was trying to use an underpowered TS.
If you do have a mine on the asteroid, get still closer after the reticle changes to in-range with just the Tractor Beam selected, and still cannot get the beam to connect then please post a new thread about your issue. Please mention there any mods running though. (The beam can indeed attach on the rock and not necessarily on the minehead itself though the latter is probably the best place to attach to for towing.)
