TC A wounded Tiger (M7)
So I just got a return ship mission for only 50k with 48 minutes to do it in. I jump to the sector in my mamba only to find its a bloody Tiger and they want me to return it for only 50k???? I think I am going to have to act fast here.
I only have a mamba a tm and one express waiting for all 10 of my marines to train. I have 42 mins on the clock I was thinking of buying a tp flying it TC HQ outfitting it and buying marines then jumping it to my location to have it boarded then once successful jump it to senators badlands and have it dock at the shipyard.
Anyone think I will succeed at this with only 42mins and if anyone can say to either keep it or sell it?. As im just hitting the M6 stage but was waiting on my marines to board one because i'm cheap .

If you can't get the marines in time, you could just claim it, rather than trying to board it.
After you have claimed it, wether you return/steal it, is up to you. Suddenly having one of the most powerful player ships in the game will move the combat aspect of your game pretty fast! If that's what you want, steal it, if however you'd rather have a more natural progression through the game, return it (or sell it!). Just be wary if you steal it or sell it, you will incur a rep hit and some police to deal with...

Hahah I have never done return ship missions before I was under the impression they can only be boarded I dont mind going to an M7 as I have had other play throughs where I flew a few M7s before but never on a vanilla save.
Think I will keep it and lay some smack on the nids with it as im at war with them due to RP reasons also will be overkill of escorts when I start boarding. I love space walk boarding M6's and making some creditsss.
Intested though what others would recommend as a load out for it I havent flown one yet or had a chance to look at its stats other than hear on threads it can be quite the monster in player hands, although I do have a soft spot for my shrike days

As heratik points out, the easy way is to just claim the ship. However, these types of 'return ship' missions are a great way to train up the fight skill on your marines. The ships have no shields to keep down, no weapons to avoid, and no internal defenses (so what are they fighting against?).
As for loadout, IBLs in the mains, FAA everywhere else for IS combat. For OOS patrol, IBL in Main, Left, Right, FAA elsewhere.

Tiger needs 12 IBL for maximum armament, 10 if you've got PALC's.
Fill the remainder with FAA, or HEPT. (Why HEPT? Because when I use it to smash a station, HEPT does a more efficient job of assisting than FAA.)

Whichever way you decide to bag it, jumping it to the senator's shipyard is a good move if you can get it docked before the rozzers turn up (I'm assuming you have good rep with the yaki). When the rozzers turn up, the Yaki will give them a warm reception and no further rep loss to you.
Nuke 'em 'til they glow and shoot 'em in the dark.

Keep the Tiger! It's awesome! If just to look at it and admire : )
About combat experiences and gun setup you can read in my xenon war story (Xenon Wars) or just put IBls in front /6pcs and in turrets (2+2 pcs) FLAK everywhere else. This is heavy duty anti capital setup, more suited for xenon then for khaak sectors.

It also mounts PALC, which gives it a bit more anti-fighter punch.
I love the look, though I kill as many things with nose of it as I do with the main IBL's.

A Tiger !!
Dank7430, you should be happy now, but wait until later... very, very happy!
You probably don't have IBLs yet. That is a project. This Tiger is pretty good with CIGs, so use them for a while. With IBLs ... an awesome killing machine!
The Yaki trick is just fine, but if that's not possible time wise, there is the Xenon trick and the Goner trick. I try to put all the software, shields, and weapons on them before I abort the mission (or the timer runs out). Sometimes I even jump it to a SY and repair it too. Then when the police are dealt with, your new ship is ready to use!
Congrats!

Thanks guys for all the info managed to get it docked at the yaki shipyard in time (although they only sent a M8 and 2 M3''s and and 1 M4/5).
Weirdly enough though my biggest threat to it was a pirate group that spawned next to the shipyard as it was docking consisting of a M6 heavy centaur, the weird thing was I was only in mamba and had 1 25mj shield (took damage and didnt have time to repair) and 4pacs/4Ire's and one pass took all the centaurs shields off and a couple of hull points?? I have never seen a ship so under armed before. It had HEPTS and PAC's installed but with some fancy flying and alot of swearing I managed to kill it but not before it took my Tiger from 67% to 58% hull and at around 358,000 per % to fix I think its going to cost me more credits than I have at this point.
I was thinking of using seta repair trick to fix it but even doing that am unsure how long it would take, anyone want to take a guess at the time it would take?

Up/Down side, the Tiger has a fairly low hull for a capital ship, and so it shouldn't take too long to repair. On the other hand, you'll soon want to invest in shields, for just that reason.

Tiger with FLAK and IBL's is just beastly. I noticed a Paranid Zeus with accompanying fighters (20+ M3's and M4's) flying through Boron space. Well, I'm not on good terms with the 'Nids. So I parked my Tiger on the gate in the next system they were heading into (just above the gate). Let the Oddy pass through, and as the fighters warped in, the FLAK just devastated them. End result? 20+ dead 'Nid Fighters. 85% shield remaining on Tiger. One Zeus ripe for capping.
Count the bodies like sheep to the rhythm of the war drums...

Remember, you only have to get it to 90% hull to get full speed from it, so that could save you substantial time/credits. Once you get it to that point, you can use some of your 'earnings' from it to do the final repairs over time. And by the way, congratulations. You're now a big league pirate.Dank7430 wrote:....

Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.

Does anyone know some sectors/stations where I can get myself some FAA if I remember correctly you can only get them from the Teladi, I checked my Encyclopaedia but no listing?
Last time I went shopping for big guns I was running mods so they where commonly available.
Also IBL's can they only be found on captured yaki ships, because I would rather not hurt my rep with them (first time I have been real friends with them and I have no Idea how I managed it normally im always shoot to kill)
I know theres meant to be an IBL forge but for some reason my game dosent have one might have been destroyed, by thoose nids
Rather random question aswell does anyone ever get the feeling or being racist when you write comments like"nids" always sounds a little derogatory to me, although it should be because they are afterall pompous ar******s. Anyway I think you get what I mean.

Only 2 FAA forges, unless you build your own.Dank7430 wrote:Does anyone know some sectors/stations where I can get myself some FAA if I remember correctly you can only get them from the Teladi, I checked my Encyclopaedia but no listing?
There's 3 IBL forges, and if they really were destroyed, you have an opportunity to capture the replacement.Dank7430 wrote:I know theres meant to be an IBL forge but for some reason my game dosent have one might have been destroyed, by thoose nids
You've now got a ship capable of holding down the shields, though, so...
Calling them Nid's depends on the character.
A) most other capitals carry them, though you'll want to look for those that can mount a lot, like destroyers and carriers, rather than Frigates mostly.
B) if you're friends with Yaki, and thus have access to Weaver's Tempest, (CHECK), you can access their IBL forges, and potentially harvest a good crop of them. They've got Fuel Distilleries, but you can do a booming business selling them energy and ore. It's quite a long cycle on IBL's, but having a single ship dedicated to the task of buying them does help.
I use a Chokaro TM in Weavers, with a supply of energy, and ore, and two sellers. A Blastclaw Prototype energy seller, and a Falcon Hauler Ore seller. They keep the forges stocked. A pair of Discoverer Raiders sells fuel to the forges from the distilleries Alpha to Alpha, Beta to Beta. The BCP also sells the distilleries energy. I set up a single L wheat farm that gets energy delivered from the Chokaro, and sells wheat to the Distilleries.
I used to use off-site manufacturing for the ore and energy, but now I just draw excess from my missile complex.
