I used to list PC parts here, but "the best" will suffice!
Very, very old advert - I would suggest from well before development started on X:R...
Which in itself doesn't mean consoles won't be involved, but personally I doubt it...

Struggling to find something from the forums - Google it!!!
I brought that page up back in the Reunion days, and it was old news even then.
Also, they never explicitly state that they're looking to port. Egosoft might want to develop an entirely separate game specifically for consoles.

Admitting you have a problem is the first step in figuring out how to make it worse.

I would highly doubt X:R or any of the X games would be on console because that would be such hard work to micro manage a trading empire.

That's a very old page. I am most sceptical about the chances of a console port any day soon, and certainly not one written by Egosoft - perhaps by a third-party developer as in the case of the Mac ports by Virtual, but not an in-house port.

It can always be beneficial to have people with experience developing for different platforms on your team even if you only ever intend to develop for the PC, as people who develop for a DS will gain experiences unique from people who develop for a PC and can provide helpful input that the team would never of had otherwise.
Although it's a non story as others have pointed out i don't have any issue with ports if they are pc to platform and not visa versa

As long as the microcomputer (CPU processor) keeps changing then console will lag far behind them.
If a software package has all the bells and whistles then it locks certain
prefab equiptment out of it's operating loop.
Egosoft has changed the game (X-verse) a number of times and console lacks the power to run such software. Although they are now able to download movies.. Maybe they found their niche.
(as you maybe surmize, I'm not a console fan)

You think a hero is some weird sandwitch and not a guy attacking a Xeno J with a kestrel.
Sir.. I said .. A guy attacking a J with a kestrel is the sandwitch.

I would throw a fit if that was the case. I have never seen a decent console port.

"TGB: The X universe has been quite successful for Egosoft. Why has Egosoft chosen not to expand onto other platforms such as the Xbox 360 or Playstation 3? Are their hardware limitations? Control Problems?
Bernd Lehahn: Well it’s certainly not a trivial task to bring such a complex and hardware hungry franchise to a console. Our games have stood and will stand in the future, for total freedom inside a very large universe. I don’t think it’s impossible to bring this to a console, but it’s a big task. So as a small developer we have to concentrate on one platform at a time."

That part looked like they where needing people for developing their own space physis engine...knowledge of general and 3D mathematics, and the ability to write clear, maintainable code
Understanding of linear and angular dynamics, matrix and vector math, basic differential calculus, and Newtonian mechanics
Able to actively gather feedback from the entire game team and translate it into improved gameplay
looks pretty standard for most game development positions tbhLTerSlash wrote:That part looked like they where needing people for developing their own space physis engine...knowledge of general and 3D mathematics, and the ability to write clear, maintainable code

You can't really call console players clowns. It's not like they/we ask for a dumbed down versions of PC games.grbaker wrote:Console blanding is the death of all good PC titles... anyone try Dugeon Siege III, Dragon Age II or Mass Effect 2... dumbed down for the console clowns..
Sure, I agree.. The X series would never make it on a console.
I totally agree, there's no way any of the X games will ever see the sunlight on any console. It's just to complex for those toys.

Egosoft 'Aerospace' is developing a modular ore processing facility for use on a near Earth asteriod and need orbital calc's done, perhaps even for the control "console" interface ...
