Mod existing ships?

any idea on how to play around with the existing ships in TC?

Like adding weapon compatibility, increasing / decreasing max cargo, etc. simple stuff.

Use doubleshadow's X3 editor 2 and extract the TShips file by clicking on "Open". If you chose "Open from VFS" the editor will find the latest version of the files and extract them.

Then doubleclick TShips, chose "open with text editor" and find the ship you want to change.
Edit the values, add or remove whatever weapons you want from the compatibility list, save the file and chose to overwrite the old file and presto: Modded ships.

You might have to start a new game for the changes to take effect, though. I'm not sure, but perhaps other, more experienced modders can answer that.
