Phantom TP - the Maybach of TPs

Post by Afterburnerz » Sun, 18. Dec 11, 23:29

Damn thing cost me a fortune to purchase and outfit.

The accessories alone cost me several million and the full freight upgrade is over a quarter of a million.

Just an hour later managed to purchase a second hand Iguana Vanguard for 130,000 - ahhh , hell.

It's basically a show ship to flaunt.

It is pretty neat looking. Doesn't serve much purpose though.

Yup, that's the Phantom. It's a pretty solid taxi with just a touch less speed than the vanguard and ~440 more cargo space, though.
The accessories alone cost me several million and the full freight upgrade is over a quarter of a million.
If you put full guns on it, you might save some money by using them elsewhere. It doesn't have the batteries or generator to do much with them. Missiles are a better bet for light defense.

im going to get myself one of them for cruising in!!

it does 180Max Speed,
5*25MJ Sheilding
950 Cargo Hold

i would say its got 10 weapon slots, (4Main, 2L, 2R & 2D) but when you consider its only got 1250 Laser Energy there is jack all point fully loading it out!!! (if it could load Ammo Based maybe but it doesn't)

I use it as my peacetime command ship. Adequate cargo hold for fuel and so does not need a TM Jumpship like a Kestrel, it can do taxi missions, a satisfyingly low rate of turn, moderate shielding, fantastic looks and a nice feeling for peacetime endeavours.

I also use it, when I am on a military ship, as a quick best buy ship for personal shopping (I used to use the Boron Angel in TC)

edit: vis laser energy, does the new OOS combat care about energy? If not then it has reasonable defences for the odd Pirate Buzzard.

I bought all the new freighters to see the models. The Drake's cool, the Tern is awesome (but then I'm a sucker for Teladi aesthetics anyway), the Snotra is horrible. I named my Phantom, 'Thoroughly Pimped' and absolutely love the look of the Geochen (and its weapon loadout. EBCs go!). Haven't had a look at the Boron one yet (Sturgeon, is it?).
Allergic to work.

If at first you don't succeed, delegate the job to a minion.
