X3AP Best Flagship M7

Post by Sesk » Mon, 19. Dec 11, 06:47

I used to use the M7 Tiger in X3TC, then used the Ocelot (badder Tiger with docks) from the SRM.

Which M7 do you guys recommend. Or perhaps an M7M. But is that usable w/o a missile complex backing it up?

I'm just short of 100m so price isn't really an issue.

I really like the griffin.
Pretty small (hard to hit and agile), correct firepower and 9 fighters allowing yourself to still complete taxi missions.

I'm flying Atreus Hauler right now, the fastest M7 commonwealth has to offer. I have to say that I miss my Panther though and will probably get one eventually. Big question is whether any of the beam weapons are available in TC...

I'm starting to think of this myself. Giving up the Panther I always had in TC is going to be tough. It should be pointed out that something like the Griffon simply doesn't have the firepower of a Panther, which reduces it's versatility.

Panther is there all right, just renamed to "Panther Raider". I thought 10 m/s of additional speed worth trying though and got Astraeus instead.

Oh, I know the Panther is still there, I'm just trying not to play the same game for the sixth time in AP.

Griffon is great fun - small fast, chews through fighters like nobody's business and has a cargobay just asking to be stuffed with assorted nukes for the bigger ships you can't damage with CIGs and flak. I got one of the

so now mine can outrun some fighters.

I would imagine the Shrike's still good, but slow. If the Astraeus Hauler is now available, it's basically a super-cerberus in every way. Worth a look. The Thresher will give you much rage with its weak shields, barn door like profile and tendency to poke things with its tail, but is very powerful against capitals and can be quite fun to use.
Allergic to work.

If at first you don't succeed, delegate the job to a minion.

Tc/ap?

Post by David Howland » Mon, 19. Dec 11, 13:08

tatakau,
I am still playing TC and have found my marine fight training centre in Dukes domain has been by far the best source of IBLs, from boarding Zeus and destroying nemesis escorts. I do not know whether you can set something similar up in AP but if ES ever lets me buy the game, I will certainly try!

Congratulations Egosoft on increasing memory usage from 2 to 3 Gb.
Bin playing X too long when Egosoft refuses to sell you their latest game?

I was partial to the Shrike and Agamemnon myself in TC. The Aggy for it's PSGs and best in class shielding and the Shrike for those Gauss Cannons. Have those ships changed at all? Also is the Agamemnon buyable now?

since I only like to manually pilot ships that have main batteries I prefer Shrike/Thresher/Q unfortunately 2 out of them don't have hangar bay so Shrike is the one I would recommend. But it is still awesome to fire 10 PPC at an enemy cap ship from threshers main battery
P.S: the only reason I like Q is cause well it is a xenon trophy hard to get early ship

tatakau wrote:I think the Panther is still the best M7... finding enough IBL's to fit it, though, is extremely troublesome. The Yaki are the best source, but they usually hate your guts by the time you're ready for an M7 because of combat missions against them. The Pirates have a single IBL station, but again, they're usually mad at you.
Alienating Yaki was a single worst choice I made in my first game. Never again. If Yaki pop-up on a mission, I either reload or just let them have their way. I'd rather trash Paranids on Yaki missions than other way around. Paranids somehow vindicated themselves by offering help to Argons, but still....
