Destroy an asteroid?

Post by lt_wentoncha » Wed, 4. Jan 12, 03:59

What's the way to get rid of an asteroid? Is it putting a mine on it and detonating it? Is there a simpler/cheaper way? Thanks.

Do you just want to remove it from the sector or do you want to use (i.e. sell/collect) the resources it contains?

It is impacting a station that I built next to it...I blasted it for 15 mins and then just rammed it with my Atreus Hauler and all it did was smile back at me...I just want it gone forever (it's a 7 Ore mine so it's next to worthless anyways).

Thanks!

The big asteroids (the ones you can scan/use to build mining stations) can only be destroyed with heavy missiles (hornets for example, if I recall correctly) or the mining laser.
Once they're broken down into smaller parts, you can get rid of those with normal weaponry or a squad of ore collectors.

To get rid of it permanently, you must build a mine on it.
No other way.

You can then self destruct the mine since it's one of your stations...
My complete script download page. . . . . . I AM THE LAW!
There is no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

Are you saying they'll respawn if I blow them to smithereens? :?

yes - in a couple of days.
Maverick: Requesting permission for flyby.
Air Boss Johnson: That's a negative ghostrider, the pattern is full.
Goose: No. No, Mav, this is not a good idea.
Maverick: Sorry Goose, but it's time to buzz a Split.
Split: Split now give you .... Aaaarrriiiigh.

another way to do it would be to use a tractor beam and move your mine away from the offending asteroid

ok move your mine after you blow up the asteroid

If the station is actually touching or overlapping with the asteroid, trying to move it will destroy it.
