[x3ap] M7m
I'm looking for a new flagship. So can anyone provide a list of the M7M from best to worst and why?
M7M have not changed much compared to TC, so here IMHO are the best:
1. Cobra
2. Cobra
3. Cob..., Ok, runner up: The Boron M7M Kraken
As you can see, Speed is essential (but if you can afford the Mk2 Turbo Booster, the Teladi M7M Gannet with lots of shield and cargo would be best.
Also, in TC, there will be lots of Missile Spam, so load up with Mosquitoes, and an M7M with a rear turret would be better (Cobra and Gannet). That is because most of the time, your M7M would be running away from your intended target.

I only ever use the cobra as a player ship from the M7Ms - simple reasons - speed, it does both barrage and boarding and can mount a pair of flaks to fend off the odd fighter.
In a fleet context however I choose the aquillo and sirokos which are barrage and boarding respectively and much cheaper because of their specialisation. Hardly ever use a cobra in a fleet - waste of money.
Many of them dont have the ability to mount a pair of flaks for fending off fighters - that may matter to you or it my not. An empty M7M is near useless anyway - even with a pair of flaks.

speed is the least essential for an m7m.VincentTH wrote:M7M have not changed much compared to TC, so here IMHO are the best:

Just saying it forward: I give everyone 2 posts to make good, in context posts(proper english, as always, is optional). After that I'm ignoring what you have to say in that thread that's directed to what we previously were talking about.
Cobra's = speed and flak
Kraken's = cargobay
Gannet = cargobay and shields
In my opinion, cargobay is the most important when considering a missile frigate for anything other than boarding operations. No one wants to call in resupply after taking down a few capitals and fighter wings. The Skirnir would be ok if you could manufacturer its all of its missiles. You either have to clone ghouls when you need them or only use shadows, which is semi-gimped. Swarm missiles are an invaluable part of a missile frigates composition.

The Skirnir still has the best torpedos in the game. (even with the typo in the missile file corrected =)
There are plenty of ways to deal with fighters.

My complete script download page. . . . . . I AM THE LAW!
There is no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

i woulda said the shadow / ghoul missiles vs the hammer heavy / flail barrage myself. =P
shields speed and turning really dont matter for an m7m. it launches missiles. if any force can break through the obscene wall of missiles they throw out, you have much bigger problems to contend with.
for capping, i did a pretty good maths post on it, showing that even a non-turbo gannet vs (IIRC) a Q(or maybe it was the Aegir? either way it was in the upper tier of speed for the m7 class) with full speed tunings can cap it in time before it enters weapons range.
