[TC] Regaining REP to restart Duke's Buccaneers missions?

Post by whiteraider » Tue, 7. Feb 12, 20:00

Can I just try to find missions at their station, or via random transporters & get offered missions again or have I blown it?

Ok I shot myself in the foot, as afar as Duke's Buccaneers are concerned.
2 newly commissioned TLs (Mammoths) where carrying stations to Mines of Fortune, to assemble a chipplex there (using the silicon 'plex that is now sort of redundant), when a Duke's Buccaneers Transporter arrives through the gate behind them. The 2 TLs then proceed to 1 shot this happless prirate...

I guess that I didnt check who the TLs had as enemies, or the show as emeny if enemy to me settings carefully enough! I also dont have the desire to rebuild the 30 uChip 'plex, to wipe this error/omission out!

(note to self: check enemy settings, turret settings when setting ships loose & save more often during 'plex building)
Bring back the TS Pirate Ship, I miss my liberated fleet runing around the universe
Maybe a fleet of liberated Pirate Ship Super Freighters

Did you already start the mission line and then did it say that your contract was terminated? If so you can never get more missions from them.

If Duke's HQ is red I think you can only turn it friendly by waiting for the Paranid to destroy it or patrolling the surrounding sectors until you find a Hacking mission.

If you have the HUB you can link Duke's sector with some pirate sectors to increase your chances of finding a Hacking mission.

Looks like it's too late, the stations still blue, but have been told my contract is terminated...

Time to choose between hauling and connecting 30 microchip plants, and an XL SPP loop, again or removing that faction from the future of my universe...

P.S.
I guess the 'reset corp' mod is another other option...

Yes, Reset Corporations is the solution.

Do not let a single notoriety loss slow you down when taking Duke's missions. The Duke's plot forces you to attack Paranids and Pirates, and the Duke's Military is more related to your pirate notoriety than it is to your Duke's notoriety. In other words, they shoot at you!

The main challenges with Dukes are:

1) Keeping the Paranids from destroying Duke's HQ.

2) Managing to keep your various race notorieties under control while taking Duke's missions.

Try to keep your combat rank as low as possible while you do Duke's missions. I kept this in mind on my current start and it's still a pain in the ass. Every assassination mission for me has 2 m8 and a heavy m6. Just those 2 ships alone drops me 2 ranks at the least. I'm praying I get these missions done before I have to start dropping m7s. If you can, let your AI controlled ships drop targets for you to limit gains to fight rank.
Duke's Buccaneers... I hate you so much... I am sooo demolishing your HQ when our business is finished....

Duke's assassination targets are always Paranid, so that rep loss isn't too bad. A tip is to also use a big ship and ram your target to death while it's blue, and just jump away from the escorts.

The station defense are more problematic, but if you're lucky, you can shoot them until they follow you and lead them to a Paranid capship that's in the sector.

I don't know if it's a mod I got installed or latest patch, but my assassination targets are always red and open fire at me on sight. I think they patched that old trick out now.

I was just finishing up the Duke's missions a week or two ago and while the escorts are red, the targets themselves were blue. I have max or near max reputation with both the Paranid and Pirates though.

An M3 that can fire perhaps the best missile in the game... the Typhoon.

And Firestorms, as well as pretty much any other missile that Commonwealth corvettes can fire. After working really hard for the ship, in hindsight it's not really worth it. It's a pretty slow M3, and if I want to fire firestorms, I might as well do it from the Hyperion, which is actually faster than the Medusa.

The Medusa Protoype is worth getting, either by starting the Unholy Traitor start, or completing the Dukes missions, if only so you can reverse engineer it at the PHQ. Imagine having a Raptor full of them all firing typhoons? :)
