Omygoshsomuchfun.

Seriously, I'm in the late late lategame now and I thought there was nothing left but roleplaying. But I've just destroyed a lone Q in a Solano (didn't even think that was possible) and it is AMAZING. I've never had so much fun in a dogfight. I'm going to try the same in a Harrier now, it should have enough cargospace worth of ammunition to kill another Q.

Unless you have to deal with flak fire this seems entirely possible :o

10x hull strength tends to make it so you need multiple MD reloads.

So are these any good against Cap ships in AP or not? I'm using EBCs atm and they are good as long as I have many of them on target, though IBLs and Gauss are still a million times better.

MD sucks. Try missiles. I can sink a Q or a Carrack in my Tenjin with Tornados like they were a Pirate Harrier.

MD are still very good against fighters. My Harrier wing of 5 can bring down M3+ very quickly. Solanos are OP and way too cheap so I don't use them. But true, capital ships in AP are a no go for mass driver fighters now.

i agree, with TC mass drivers were far more deadly, the hull ratings were terrible so something that bypasses sheilds to do direct hull damage was a worth while weapon for fighters. but in AP (for all it can still be done) is not worth the hastle. the PAC is better for taking on CAPs in AP.

imo with the change in hull ratings the Mass driver needs at least 2-3x increase in damage output to make it worth using.

I think your missing the point,Shooting down a capitol ship in an m4/m5 with normal guns is skill.Firing missiles from half a sector away is lacking the skill to get in and get personel. :)

as deadly as ever* (actually the whole increase hull points thing made terran weapons a bit more viable as they have decent hull damage)

* of course battles across the board have gotten longer but relative to other weapons these two are still "kicking" :D
