[SOLVED]x3: Reunion cutscenes not playing

- Windows 7
- Intel I5 3.1ghz
- Dual Nvidia 450
- 1 terabyte
- 8 Gigs of RAM
- x3: Reunion
- No MODS or SCRIPTS
- running at max graphics and max resolution

Problem:
Cutcenes/movies not playing. Main menu movies start up with some sound and black screen then stops and goes back to main menu after around 2 seconds. Cutscenes ingame don't play at all and at times just play a sound or two for 1-3 seconds.

Explanation:
I own the STEAM version of X3: Reunion.
I did not edit it at all
tried starting several new games with no success
Currently reinstalling
Running newest version of the game
Tried running in different resolutions with no luck
Very. Irritated.


If anyone can help with this please do. I want to see how the movies/cutscenes are and have more of a understanding on to what is going on. At times i just go from one area to another with no explanation what-so-ever. It is ultra confusing and very irritating. MUCH LOVE IF YOU CAN HELP

The issue seems to be bigger. I have tried all X3 games/expantions and in all of them no cutscenes work

I finally managed to get the cutscenes to work. Install ffdshow codecs and uninstall and then reboot. Everything works now

same, i had a different issue, but after also removing haali codec splitter and ffdshow the cutscenes (which I'd not seen) were showing on new start.
