Goner Plot- Follow Pirate Ship.. I see.. Hammers...

Post by ivanwong1989 » Mon, 27. Feb 12, 16:50

My Aquilo got pass Brigantines and Galleons no sweat...

but a pirate ship that I didn't even have enough time to identify launched like a bee line of Hammers to me and I see Game Over ... THRICE!

Any suggestions? Tactics? .. dying to a mere fighter sure is embarrassing..

ediit:
i have improved races installed(din activate the aggressiveness yet, but it does increased the "effectiveness" of AI controlled missile toting ships... i see.. a bee line of hammers.. dead before can even identify it...it was 3km frm me i think..

Set your turrets to missile defence and buy a lot of mosquitoes.
Or this doesn't work on Aquilo in TC?

I have a puny turret at the back...that can't respond fast enough to take them out.

Aquilo can't mount mosquito..

Anti-Missile Defense for a Missile Frigate that is SPAM-ED by another ship toting hammer missile.

yeah.. my Aquilo is getting it's @$$ kicked.
Does MARS work well? (Aquilo only have one puny turret behind)

Probably hammer-HEAD not hammer missiles. Hammerheads do 1.2M damage so even a few will waste you. Best to turn 360 and shoot the incoming down with your rear turret if you hear a missile spam warning. Afterburn away from the missiles at full speed to give the turret time to deal with them.

Either that or it was a bomber. Tomahawks are really nasty but the same tactic applies.

i think it's a bomber...it was close and small.... O.o

Bombers are DANGEROUS? OMG!

seriously, if it's tomahawks, it's fragging high damage. my 6GJ of shielding withered away like an autumn tree...

oh well... maybe this 4th run i should destroy everything before they come in close.

btw, guys, I'm thinking making my Cerberus tag along to cover me from missiles. work? or both will be wrecks in no time?

so a bee line of those let's say 10?

10x625k=6MJ

hmm still couldn't take out my 6GJ right? or did I count wrongly..

He means 625k kilojoules, so yeah 6GJ, not MJ. If you have any flails onboard they can be launched at missiles with good success, and retarget to other hostiles as a bonus.
Allergic to work.

You can use 'home' and 'end' to cycle enemies, including missiles IIRC. If not, experiment with the other keys in that area of the keyboard. You can also use shift+T to target nearest enemy (from about 5km) if you don't have anything else nearby.

You click on them in space. They target the same as other ships, but you can't target them via the sector map unfortunately.

So it's manually targeting...

Here's how to prevent game over, bring another ship. Eject and transport to that ship! You'll have to move like hell and you'll lose your first ship, but no game over. Those missiles will stay locked onto the first target. Now... if he has any more or fires lasers at you, you're space toast.

Set the turret to "missile defense" and run away. Also, putting a fairly long ranged weapon like PAC, HEPT or PRG in it will help.

Also, using "target nearest enemy" (default SHIFT+T) might help you. The missiles will have to be pretty close for it to work, but it's better than nothing.
I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am :D
