Does the HUB even have a point?
Other than a way to connect certain sectors together more easily this place seems largely useless. At least with the HQ you can make your own ships with. This HUB just seems to be a large waste of time.

It cuts the jumpfuel usage.
It can be an universal trading centre.
edit:
You can unleash Xenon to certain sectors.
You can lock down entire systems and so on...

connect sectors together that are having large volume of traffic and make sure they are at war....
get a ship to collect the dropped wares
or use it to connect parts of your empire together i.e. sectors that produce stuff for your hq!

they have had almost 1000 years to terraform Aldrin, why are they all still sitting around a giant rock?

Same with Gaian Star.
Any sector you felt like declaring war on you lock the hub to each of its gates so anything that came to resist (other than the RRF) would wind up in the Hub where of course your battlefleet would be waiting.
Connect it to Grand Exchange if you want to redirect the current invasion.

Do you miss dangerous pirates?
Try leading the target a little more...

It's great warehouse for getting NPCs to sell you missiles you need etc.,instead of jumping all over the universe to get them ,
Just link the gates strategically to accomplish to this.
In TC I had it set up to buy all shields and weapons that I used.
Made one nice central upgrade station.
I also kept a supply of E-cells there too.

That's how I use it too, central supply depot holding equipment for the fleet, with it's own fleet of CAGs buying gear from NPC factories. In most games I usually put the PHQ in there as well so newly built ships don't have far to go to pick up their shields, guns, missiles, etc.TTD wrote:In TC I had it set up to buy all shields and weapons that I used.

Aside from that my favourite use for the Hub is for abducting aliens:
1. Set up the gates so NPC patrol groups have to fly through the Hub.
2. Wait for the gates to recharge.
3. When the next patrol flies through the Hub, quickly realign the gates so the patrol goes where I want them to go when they leave the Hub & attempt ro resume their usual patrol route. For example, I often send them into a pirate sector where I can capture the ships without interference from police or other military vessels, or sometimes into a Yaki sector so I can destroy them & thereby gain Yaki rep.
For this to work I find it best to only activate a single set of gates while doing the Hub repair mission so it's easy to force the patrol group to go precisely where I want them to.

Hub!
sadron, sadron, sadron?
The Hub is the most powerful toy in the box but its use is limited unless you are rich and powerful, that is why in TC it was difficult to get without owning half the universe.
Like the PHQ it can be used in two ways but the two do not mix readily.
The Hub can be used as a Weapon against a race sector, either isolating it, or connecting it to the core sector of a hostile race, say Xenon to Split.
As a hide-a-way it is handy as the Hub station is indestructable.
The second use is as the most powerful trade station in the game. The PHQ can also be used as a trade station but has to stay in a sector whereas the hub is conectable to anywhere in the universe. Why if you spread its conections wide enough it will save your trader ships a fortune in time and jump fuel! I remember that before the hub my runabout player ship a Dragon needed one or two refuel stops to get from one end of the universe to the other. After the Hub I could get anywhere in one jump.
Young sadron let me tell you, any experienced player who says to you, the Hub is useless, lacks any imagination!
My advice is have fun using it as a weapon first, then do business with it!
