X3AP never ending xenon invasion in Grand Exchange

Post by SirCharles » Sat, 10. Mar 12, 15:40

As the subject line says, I have a never ending xenon invasion in grand exchange. I have tried to clear out the xenon, which always include at least one capitol ship (sometimes 2 or 3 of them) and a bunch of fighters of different types.
The way things go are as follows, I hop in sector, start fighting, and as I begin to make headway in getting rid of the bad guys, more xenon come in sector to take their place. The locales are not showing up to help, or are being taken out before they do anything worth mentioning.
The xenon are not passing thru, they hang around in sector and keep taking out every ship in sight. I am playing a vanilla game, with all the latest official patch. I have completed the main plot, along with the PHQ plot. The Xenon problem was there before completion of the main plot and has been around for several game hours with no end in sight.
Currently, I have no missions showing at all. I have not started the Hub plot yet. I was hoping to clear up this problem befor doing so. I can live with clearing the sector, if that were possable, but that does not seem like it can be cleared due to replacements coming in as fast as the others are cleared out. Thanks in advance for any and all help with this matter.

I think the reinforcements keep coming if you have not totally eliminated the previous wave(s) within a certain amount of time or reached a set number of kill points for the mission (big ships are more points than small ones). There have been similar complaints about it in X3TC even before recent patches. Example.

I will move this to the Universe forum to get better exposure to players who have found ways round it (eg possibly involving missile spam of retargetting missiles etc).

I saw them withdraw back to their sectors after a while, they just flew away.
Where is it?

Why do you think it's possible to stop spawning of enemies, even in just one sector?

We all have never ending xenon invasions in AP, its used to be Menelaus Paradise in TC, now we have it in Grand Exchange. I’ve even had xenon up in Queens Space, where the hell did they come from ?

Anyway, what’s the problem? Ignore, skip the sector, come back later with a bigger ship and shoot them up as cannon fodder.

I do not recall starting a defend against xenon mission in grand exchange, and even if I did and forgot about not finnishing it, the mission is not showing up in my mission list. I have played the X series since the first X2 came out and have never had a problem with this many xenon in a sector that will not go away (continious respawning). It almost looks like a xenon sector instead of grand exchange.
I have tried to clear the sector, but the ships respawn as soon as I kill them. this includes the capitol ships such as the J's and Q's that are there. I can not kill them fast enough to get ahead of the respawn rate. It seems that this a bug. it would be impossable to "finnish" any kind of mission if there is instant respawning going on. Besides, if this were a mission, why isnt it showing up in my misson list (it is now empty, as I have finnished all the missions I have started).
@wRAR, I never said anything about stopping the spawning of enemies, what is going on here is not the "normal" respawning that happens over time. durring the normal respawn deal, if you clear a sector, the enemy will slowly respon over time (days or weeks) not respawn the very second that a ship is killed, which is what is going on here.

@SirCharles

To restate. AP We all have xenon en masse in Grand Exchange.

The devs have decided to let me them wander out of the 4 xenon sectors to the north.

Sorry, I misunderstood if this is not an XI or patrol mission.

What might also be happening is that Xenon ships are spawning in the sector(s) above GE to go and replace Xenon ships killed or missing from another Xenon sector and are just using GE as the start of their transit route. The best way to stop the flow is to let them all through and hope enough get through all the intervening NPCs to fill the holes and end the respawn and migration. The more you kill them, the more will come.

(Unless as AL'42 says they are programmed to always be there in quantity in X3AP.)

The thing that gets me is the fact that they are not wondering thru to get to another sector to replace lost ships. They are hanging around grand exchange and not leaving. They are blowing up every ship in sight. can some one that has connections with the devolopers ask about this. I do not wish to think that this is a "planned thing" grand exchange is now useless and is a hazzard for ut's and or any other ship that try to get thru.
It is messing up the economy in general as well due to the fact that player and ai traders are getting taken out in this key sector (it is a key sector in the area it is in) without access thru this area, maelstrom and it's connected sectors are now cut of, along with an importent route to bright profit and it's connected sectors. I am having trouble believing that the devolopers intended to do this.
I strongly feel this is a bug that needs to be fixed. having the occasional xenon ship or fleet pass thru from time to time is one thing, a non ending full force invasion in a key sector is another. add to that the "war sectors" that are not useable or passable without player escort, and this game is not usable. the xenon were not there when I started this game, so why are they there now. If I would have known this, I would have never wasted my money on this game.

its been this way since TC, it just wasnt as bad in TC since they were more timid and the best ship they could field was an Q, whereas the teladi had their pheonixs and condors and their compliments, plus they also split up into zyarths dominion, which they dont do as much anymore, they just seem to be blockading it.

then theres the RRF who are supposed to help quell them, but they dont work anymore.
Just saying it forward: I give everyone 2 posts to make good, in context posts(proper english, as always, is optional). After that I'm ignoring what you have to say in that thread that's directed to what we previously were talking about.

Hi its me again!

well they seam to just be a few at the start, but every little bit another wave enters, sometimes they pass through into neighboring sectors, but most of the time they do not, and with the RRF MIA we are all SOL. (yay, abbreviations!)

its really difficult if you start suicidal squid,i spend most of my beginning game in the argon sectors nearby, and with xenon in grand exchange, omacron lyre being a war zone and the split hating you in argon sector 148 and paranid preventing you from getting back to boron Territory with out going through grand exchange, well selling ships is very difficult

Yes. People have short memories.

In TC the sectors from Menelaus Paradise to Zyarths Dominion were often devoid of ships and a hazard to UTs and shipping in general BECAUSE of the constant xenon presence.

So I blockaded the 3 xenon entry points with M2 + 60M3 at each gate to improve trading. The area was transformed, trading ships flooded in. Business boomed.

AP There’s only one gate in Grand exchange to blockade, sort it.

My Grand Exchange is currently clean, but Xenons do wonder there from time to time. Telladi defense manages to keep them at bay so far. I dropped about 30 LTs at the Xenon gate trying to help them and get a reputation boost. In several game hours 4 of them were gone.

"Kill All Xenon' mission not ending

Post by Afterburnerz » Sun, 11. Mar 12, 07:31

The "Kill All Xenon" mission I accepted from the Teladi Shipyard in Grand Exchange is still active 22 HOURS later.

The mission states that - Kill All Xenon + Defend the Shipyard.
Kill All Xenon
Recent reports have indicated an unusual build-up of Xenon ships in Xenon Sector 598. The Teladi Military require additional pilots to help defend Grand Exchange from the Xenon threat.

Destroy: Xenon Fleet

+ Protect Teladi Shipyard

Difficulty: Hard

Reward: 607124 Cr + 58341814 Cr

Time left: <no limit>
In over 22 hours on this mission and destroying:
5 J
32 Q
40+ P and PX
and several hundred L's and M's;
the mission is still not completed.

The whole sector has been clear of Xenon many, many times.

The mission has directed me to go to the North Gate { it's highlighted Yellow} yet even though Ive killed them all it still won't finish.

I want MY 58.9 Million credits - PROFITSSSSSSSS !!!!! lol

Having too much fun capturing ships and collecting Goodies -
34 Photon Cannons , 56 CIG , 9 FAA , 38 PBE , 21 FBL etc etc but not a single IBL , damn it.

If I travel though the North Gate to eliminate the Xenon in 598 the mission auto aborts and I don't collect any reward.

I knew my good luck had to change - collected a nice OT Hyperion Vanguard from the Poisoned Paranid start - HV is 243 and the Adv Perseus is 256 .

I'm only in day 4 of Albion prelude so that 58 + Million credits is Really Important.

If I may make some suggestions to the Developers -
* include the mission identifying number at the bottom corner of the screen that pops up giving more info , so that the player can state = "It's a desroy Xenon Mission - ID Number DXM 345677
* allow the player to leave the sector and come back to complete the mission
* include an 8 hour timer that rolls over in these missions - a message would be presented to the player every 8 hours stating
"Pilot, you've performed an excellent job in destroying xxx Xenon ships.
Would you like to complete the mission now or continue?"
The player can stay on for another 8 hours and earn more kills or move on.

Sorry to hear that the bloody lazy Teladi are not helping you out.

In my game there is a brave 'little' Cormorant taking on a few of the Xenon fighters , as well as 2 crippled Phoenix and a Teladi M1 helping me out.

The damn M1 is the most valuable as he can do 60 and has 16 fighters on board.

The Phoenix captains refuse to dock at the shipyard to repair their ships - one is at 30% hull with the other at 31 % so I have to lead the J's to them.

I had to take down 2 of the J's by myself as the captains were hanging around the South gate - probably having a 'Smoko'

Hope you get some help soon.

There is a ship spawned by this mission that decided to go wondering in Xenon space instead of attacking whatever station it should have. They are likely afraid of you after so many mighty kills. Considering that leaving sector will fail the mission, one option is remote-nuking the xenon ships behind that gate :) I guess that's where the *think* part of X games kicks in :)

I'm second with that problem. I have noticed it since AP 2.0 patch only...

I think Egosoft has already worked out our doom, because Xenon AI will reach the stars! :D

I did one of those, it lasted for me about 45 minutes at least, I tried to wipe out the whole waves as fast as I could, but the xenon would spread too much and it is a very big sector, local forces didnt help much sadly.

All I say is.. patience!! :)

I am working on the hub plot now and am making progress. I am thinking of hooking up grand exchange with another sector that might get their military involved. It's a thought. Otherwise I guess I can save up for a few of the big ships and deal with it. This is one of the things I hate about starting a new X series game.
In my last game X3TC, I had more than enough to deal with the problem (more that 20 fully loaded pythons, plus a ton of other heavy duty ships). and with billions and billions in credits scattered amoung my mega plexes, I had the ability to get as many cap ships as I wanted. Oh well, back to AP, where I will figure something out.
Hopefully the devs will fix the problem so that the Xenons will be easier to deal with. I love a chalange, I hate playing a game that causes me as much, if not more grief than real life.
