[TC] Mods for dealing with Undesired Asteroids? + Misc...
I'm about to claim the only Unknown sector with a bluish star in it, it is also the one that has the only example of a ambience that is not observed in any other sector. (This sector im describing is linked to another unknown sector that leads to Gaian Star)
If you know the sector Im talking about, theres that huge clump of asteroids that takes up SO MUCH SPACE you could use to put stations in... and it literally swallows up 1/3 of the sector...
Has anyone created a mod (utilizing Cycrow's plugin Manager) That allows you to simply erase asteroids that take up precious space? I hate Having to build mines on the useless asteroids and then delete them using one of Cycrows handy mods... it's extremely time consuming and the asteroid I get rid of isn't always the one I meant to remove. Plus its expensive to have to buy mines that you wind up just deleting to remove asteroids. (either that or a mod for the Tractor beam so it can move the offending asteroids...)
Painstakingly mining them with a mobile drilling system would take even longer and all those small asteroids would really make my copy of the game lag like a turtle. I've also tried to blow them all up with heavy missiles but it didn't work as intended. Weapons such as the PSG and PBG also do not work as effectively as I have hoped...
If anybody knows such a mod and has a link to it I would appreciate it if you posted the said link.
If you get inspired and MAKE such a mod, thumbs up to you...
Hope you guys can help out.
Also had a few other mod ideas to throw out there:
Moving Gates: This allows the tractor beam to move gates around, Although frowned upon in occupied sectors (If you dont have a Gate Positioning Liscense, perhaps.) this can be very useful for shortening the travel time between gates in unknown sectors (Such as the one that creats a shortcut to New Income from Montalaar).
Mobile Missile production suite: This upgrade, although very costly, allows your ship (M6 or larger) to produce any one type of missile on-the-fly. Meaning much fewer trips to equipment docks and less missile scavenging, the only drawback is that a certain amount of energy cells are needed to produce different numbers of baches (10 missiles in each bach) of the missile. A special version of this upgrade is available for M7Ms, which allow them to produce the missiles specially designed for their use without the need of energy cells.
Advanced Paint Job Options + more: This adds the color white to the colors you can make your ships in the PHQ, as well as being able to Invert Colors, Change the color of certain parts of the ship, (Cockpit windows 1, 2... Wings, Turrets, ETC.), Engine flame color, and even the polish of the ship (Such as making the surface of a Venti seem almost like a mirror).

Cant you use the cheat pack to just destroy the roids ?
The other option is to edit the universe map and remove them, then start a new game. Then there is no possibility of respawning.
Its the respawning issue that is probably the important part.
I dont know about the paint job, but the other 2 should be doable. In fact, have a look at Production Modules by LA, as that might work for you straight off.
I dont think its possible to tractor a gate. Best you can do is destroy it and create a new one somewhere else. But that is problematical, since if its not connected up again correctly, it wont work. Probably needs an MD for it.

Unfortunately for some reason you can't select Roids with Cyrcrow's cheat package... Perhaps he might add an Update which will give this ability?apricotslice wrote:Cant you use the cheat pack to just destroy the roids ?
And thanks for the tip Apricot, I'll have to look into that.

Were not talking about little asteroids, were talking about the ones that you put mines are that are nearly the same size as the mine AND the 'Asteroid' it's planted on.feygan wrote:Just use asteroid fusion, no more hundres of small roids littering about and a bonus of a very fast high production mine at the end.
If you know where the soundtrack file is for X3TC, (Look under Program files). The ID number of the music played in the sector is 06112. Maybe that will jog some memory.
If you look at savage spur you'll see what I mean...

Do you know where this Asteroid Fusion Mod is located Feygan? And does it use Cycrows Plugin Manager? I'm reconsidering it...
I also wanted to note that even though cycrow's cheat package DOES have a script that allows you to CREATE Asteroids, there isn't one that can REMOVE them.
Perhaps this can be created?
Anyway just considering the options.
Thanks for the input you're giving guys...

are you sure you cant just select and "destroy" (the destroy selected object thing) them using cheat scripts? I think I have done that before, actually I am certain that I have done that beforeThe X-Plorer wrote: I also wanted to note that even though cycrow's cheat package DOES have a script that allows you to CREATE Asteroids, there isn't one that can REMOVE them.

By configuring the hotkeys (from Cycrow's cheat) you can have a key to destruct object.
Select the asteroid and delete it.
I have done it many times..
But using the asteroid fusion you can clean out a sector in no time.

You think a hero is some weird sandwitch and not a guy attacking a Xeno J with a kestrel.
Sir.. I said .. A guy attacking a J with a kestrel is the sandwitch.

I have been trying to do that for a while... Do you know exactly how? I've been unable to figure it out for the life of me...Retiredman wrote:By configuring the hotkeys (from Cycrow's cheat) you can have a key to destruct object.

Mind giving a small guide to how that's done?apricotslice wrote:You need to hotkey the cheat menu. Then bring it up and turn the destruct hotkey on. Then go back into hotkey setup and give it a key.
Thumbs up to retiredman and Apricotslice.

Hotkeys :
Click on the tick, bottom left corner.
select controls.
select interface.
scroll to bottom.
select Cheat:Open Menu
add control
press key to add it to (eg F7)
Apply.
Same for the destruct hotkey if its showing.
Exit and save. (Esc)
In game, press F7 key and the cheat menu pops up. Clicking on anything changes its option. So if it off, click it and it will turn on. Esc out.
If you assign the destruct key to say F6, then open nav map, select top roid in list, target, F6. Repeat.

Using the hot key form the Cheat package, the riods still respawn. I think the only real way to get rid of them is to put a station on them and then blow it up sadly.
On the other hand
The fusion script
http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=278535
Using the below line of code to get rid of the asteroids
<line linenr="041" indent=" "><var>$ast -></var><text> destruct: show no explosion=</text><var>[TRUE]</var></line>
I haven't tried but maybe requiring the explosion stops the damn thing from respawning. I have always down it with the explosion set to false. So mabye there is some type of wackey differnce.
