X3:TC - Unable to 'read' Marine Stats at Military Outposts etc - RESOLVED
Anyone able to help me out with this? I'm probably missing something fairly obvious but ...
(Vanilla TC on a Mac with no Bonus Pack or mods etc)
Up until recently I have been able to dock any of my TPs at stations offering Marines and view their 'abilities' via the menus. (Same has been true with other ships kitted out with Bio Scanners/Cargo Life Support + all Trade Command softwares)
I've just noticed that this is no longer possible.
As far as I'm aware nothing much else has changed. I can buy Marines but I'm reluctant to do so without knowing what fighting skills they come with.
I've got about 60+ Marines currently in training and I'm hoping to start experimenting with Boarding in the next few days. Anticipating some inevitable losses I've been trawling around for fresh Marines but, as I say, now I can't see what skills are available before I buy,
Any ideas ??
Thanks.
.
Edit: Duh

Change?
Have you changed anything recently; game patched, started a script or mod.?
Have you installed a major program on your computer?
Is the game run from disk or Steam?
If you think it might be one of the last two take this to the tech. support forum!

The BANISHED RETURNS.
HEALTH WARNING! Steam Damages Freedom Of Speech!
Congratulations Egosoft on increasing memory usage from 2 to 3 Gb.
Bin playing X too long when Egosoft refuses to sell you their latest game?
The only steam I want is in my kettle! STEAM=GAME OVER.

I don't run any scripts or mods and nothing's changed on this iMac for several months.
I downloaded TC from the App Store last November; currently running their latest version (3.2 I think)

Got to say that's not my recollection. In the past I've had TPs docked at Military outposts and every now and then had a quick scroll through them to pick up the occasional marine with high fight rank.
In any event I'm certain I didn't fly 'round the Universe in a player ship buying individual marines.
Strange goings on ...

You need only one bioscanner in the whole game. The one in your own ship. With that, you can see the marine's stats remotely, regardless of which ship is at the station.
Maverick: Requesting permission for flyby.
Air Boss Johnson: That's a negative ghostrider, the pattern is full.
Goose: No. No, Mav, this is not a good idea.
Maverick: Sorry Goose, but it's time to buzz a Split.
Split: Split now give you .... Aaaarrriiiigh.

Thanks for the info Allan - I wish I'd known that earlier as I've equipped most of my capital ships with their very own shiny new bio scanner - this probably explains why those nice people behind the counter at Terracorp always point and laugh whenever I swing by ....Allan F wrote:You need only one bioscanner in the whole game. Large portion of humble merchant pie being eaten right now.
Thanks to all who replied, sorry for wasting your time.
After saying that nothing had changed in my current game and after reading Allan's last response I realised that I'd swapped into one of my "older" Tigers - I'm embarrassed to admit that it didn't have its own bio scanner.
So, off to face the tittering assistants at Terracorp
Once again, thanks for your input and apologies for being too thick to know mine own ar*e from elbow.

"Sorry, sir - no refunds - but you can reclaim half the value if you sell it in a ship at a shipyard."
