aran capping

so i finally found another one, i jumped out, lasered it but no music will come on and it's still untargetable...any thoughts?

i had the same thing happen but the music played and nothing else happend

It won't become targetable until you capture it. Hit it with repair laser several times until you hear the music, make sure your ship doesn't have Show as Enemy if enemy to me set or has its turrets disabled. To start boarding use additional ship commands / Launch All Marines for M7M.

well the music comes on, im outside and try to order the boarding but the ship won't appear in the menu in either option: launch all or piracy

seems my m7m was corrupt, had to clone it and the menu displayed correctly. i think it's still somewhat corrupt (doesnt display all softwares in the freight menu...but oh well)... im at deck 4 of aran now

Corrupt M7M is something new... Once the music starts Aran should become visible in Launch All Marines menu as the nearest enemy ship. Not sure if it still works if you have "show as enemy if enemy to me" disabled in FFE though, could be that you actually need to disable turrets instead to avoid nuking your objective. I capped mine with TS boarding in AP, so I can't say for sure.

well, the sec i cloned the ship its passengers were wiped out, which included a "no pilot"...hadnt noticed that i somehow had bout 10 passengers w.o having bailed more then 3 ships, all xenon + it did show the closest ship: aran afterwards. slow ass ship hehe, im gonna go hunt another one

Enemy To Me Setting!

Kurush; you are spot on as usual, about the 'show as enemy if enemy to me' setting, but this could not have been p00fer's problem as the enemy alert music would not start either if this had been cancelled and he did state it had changed. I only know because I had the same problem on my first Aran hunt and it took a thread here and in the tech. forum before we figured it out :oops: :oops: :lol:

p00fer; Congratulations on your Aran! I found the first Aran off my PHQ production line, 'Seeker Aran', made my second Aran hunt a much more luxurious affair.

THX, i jumped again and oh surprise, another Aran...im using cycrows cheat to find out if there's one in the sector...speeds up the initial sweep...now 2 arans in a row after dozens of unlucky sectors...

Now that is a huge stroke of luck, second Aran in next sector? I have only read of that happening twice before, my two Arans took 34 jumps each!

Which cheat is that?
Brute force and ignorance solves all problems, just not very efficiently.

If brute force isn't working, then you aren't using enough.

destroy sector menu...ot shows every ship in sector, once there was a ranger but i didnt bother looking for it, this cheat is essential if using RRF, since a sector can get crawling with 300 ships shooting at eachother..

What ship are you using to cap the Aran. Better yet csn I dock a cobra in the aran?

im currently using a minotaur, the aran can dock any ship; so once you cap it you dock and transfer JD + Ecells to the Aran and jump out.

I can't say for AP, but in TC the Aran can dock ANY ship, regardless of class, INCLUDING another Aran.

29 M5,M4,M3, TP, TM or TS + 1 of M5/M4/M3/M2/M1/TM/TL/TP/TS.

That is the REAL reason that the Aran is liked, despite being slower than a turtle.

Yes you can if all done or used OOS, if IS then good luck at actually getting your fighters intact out of just the first Aran though. Docking/undocking another Aran/capital is dodgy to terminal if IS.

Better than that. Aran plus 29 TM's filled with fighters (116), plus a Raptor (181). Then dock to another Aran etc.

Finally got one. Started to RE the thing since it moves like pond water. Four days..... kinda wonder since it has 12 gj of shields if it could be decent moble mining base. 120k holding space be alot of nividium :P
