X3AP: Savage Split start?

I'm really struggling with this one. I've got 2 games now where I've met the requirements for the Savage Split start, to the best of my knowledge - both of the games are at the rank above Specialist - yet I can't select it. I thought originally that for some reason my bankrupt assassin start was causing problems as it was labelled 'modified' (for no apparent reason) so I made a new save and went pirate hunting to get my rank up to specialist as an Argon Peacekeeper, but that one hasn't unlocked it either.

Anyone got any ideas? I really want to start a game off as a Split!

Hmm, it seems to me all you need is 33% specialist... if you're on the rank above then I have no idea what's wrong.

I did a search, but can not find it, can you post of full list of the different start options and what you need to unlock them (X3AP)

they should be the same as the ones from X3TC, as to the best of my knowledge they haven't changed.

The game's registry doesn't always update unlocked starts in a timely fashion, especially if you're managing campaigns by moving all the old saves to a storage folder before starting the new game.

To get around this, make sure a copy of at least one save in your game's main savegame folder has high enough stats to unlock the start when you go to start the new game.

and how would I do that with a Steam install?

Saves are in .../user/documents/Egosoft/X3AP/saves

If you've got the saves in there and it's still not unlocking the new start, then I have no idea what the particular problem might be.

Done. I had a closer look at the save file and checked it was there - which they both were - so I gave up and played my Argon game for a bit. Next time I deaded I checked again - and both Savage Split and Pious Paranid were unlocked. Don't know why it took so long, but I'm now cruising around Cho's Defeat in my Jaguar, so I'm assuming it worked.
