X3TC Getting rid of M7 Pirate Carrack
Hi, in last few days I made huge ammount of deals with pirates, mainly building station missions. But now I have a problem, that suddenly M7 Pirate Carrack are respawning time to time in random sectors and attacking my infrastructure (Complex, Ships, Patrols). That was first time Ive seen Carrack at llain the game.
Any idea what has actually triggered M7 to popping up? How can I reverse it?
First I thought it's cause of my better ranking at pirates, so I blew up ~3 Pirate Stations, didnt help.

Odd?
This certainly seems odd cheeseburger, I have never been friends with the pirates and in a three year game have only had to destroy three Carracks?
I wanted a supply of respawning pirate capitals to fight train my marines on and had to set up camp at Dukes Domain.
Maybe you should go in for boarding, so you can make good use of this scourge?

I thought I read here in the forum that one of the 'gifts' Egosoft have programmed in for heavy SETA users is they get Pirates spawned specifically to attack their property.. maybe you didn't have the fight rank before to get Carracks and just didn't notice the smaller attack groups.cheeseburger wrote:nack, this savegame is already running a long time and it *never* happened a pirate M7 destroying any patrol ship or complex. But now it happens 4-5x a day if I run the game in SETA.Kapakio wrote:They were always there, you probably didn't notice

Some games I rarely ever see a Carrack, others they seem to pop up like weeds everywhere.
My last abortive attempt at an Argon game, one appeared in Elena's Fortune, another in President's End where I had started a Silicon Mine and a Crystal Fab (since one of the Argon fabs got blown up), and a third in Three Worlds. All three sat there for several game days, ravaging everythng. Worse, a Paranid fleet arrived in Home of Light and blew up about half of the stations (damaged the Terracorp HQ, but then stopped shooting and chose another target). Eventually, an Argon fleet showed up and toasted the one in Elena's Fortune, but not before it wasted everything but the Military base and one of its defense satellites. The Carrack was then reinforced with a Brigantine, and together annihilated the Argon Titan and its host of escorts, then both pirate ships left. With both of my recently-built factories wrecked, and my first Universal Trader blown out of space (I had a couple of sector traders started, but only 1 UT), I decided that the game was too frustrating to continue.
I don't think I touched SETA at all, that game, so if it's a factor, it's not the main one.
The problem with "random" elements is that they're TOO random. I wish there were "point pools" for the different factions, so they'd tend to build up and launch a couple of attacks, then be depleted for a while. As it stands, you can blast fleet after fleet into scrap, and they just keep respawning over and over in some games, or hardly ever appear in others. The current game mechanics convey the impression that the Pirates are about 3x the size of any of the regular factions, yet you never see a Pirate-owned factory.

Pirate capital ship spawning is a bit random. Chances are, prior to your issues with the Carracks, they were all spawned in some other pirate sector that you didn't frequent. Something may have attacked and destroyed the existing ones and they subsequently respawned in areas near your complexes. There do seem to be a fixed number of Pirate capitals in the game at any one time.cheeseburger wrote:Nope. I also had better fight ranking earlier, but never seen Pirate M7 before.devilsad wrote:I thought I read here in the forum that one of the 'gifts' Egosoft have programmed in for heavy SETA users is they get Pirates spawned specifically to attack their property
In some of my previous games, for example, Pirate capitals seemed to be nonexistent until I visited out of the way sectors such as Veil of Delusion and the Gaian Star/Maelstrom areas. After blowing up a few of them, I noticed some of them respawned in the western pirate sectors and started causing havoc. Same thing may have happened to you.

Don't they spawn in sectors with pirate presence though? I haven't seen a carrack but I got several dragons and ospreys spawning in Savage Spur after I built 20+ stations there for pirates. They all were friendly thought with only an occasional fighter turning red.Nanook wrote: Pirate capital ship spawning is a bit random.
They do only respawn in Pirate sectors, AFAIK.kurush wrote:Don't they spawn in sectors with pirate presence though? i think the answer has been given to you, sometimes its sheer pot luck... i know the current game of AP im playing there seems to be 100s of Carracks everywhere, (i know there aren't just that they seem to respawn in the worst possible place) i personally am not one for keeping freindly with them, just blow the things to smitherines, or better cap it if you can.
all i can reckomend is try and get as good a defence as you can. when these kinds of things happen regularly thats the only thing you can take for granted.
