X3 TC / AP limitation of engine ? (no glow on objects ingame)

In 3ds Max 2008 i put glow through lens effect on the gate so it glows with a certain color, i exported it, converted to bob and took a look inside game.

No glow .. can i assume glow and other lens effects on objects can not be used with this engine or am i doing something wrong ?

I'm no expert, but the glow effect is usually applied via the alpha layer of the light map texture.

As far as I'm aware, lens flares can only be added via effects, which means they cannot be added to all models, only objects that can call an effect - e.g. bullets, engines, impact effects etc.

thnks Paul .. will do some read-up on alpha layers & light map textures
and see if i can somehow apply it to the gate
