X3Tc A.I inactive & Aldrin plot wont unlock

Post by Sister101 » Sun, 13. May 12, 13:42

Hello every one

I need some help my A.I on my game becomes inactive they just sitting there doing nothing, I have basically blasted pirates and Xenon to extinction the don't even re-spawn in their own sectors only the Xenon stations does, and this happens in every sector the ships just sits there I can open fire on friendly ship they will just turn red and shoot back when i am in range other wise they just sit there, I have tried to UN-install and re-install the game several times some where later in the game it just happens all over again.

It just sucks if you go into enemy sectors and they don't hunt you down
or re-spawn after you blasted them

I have done most op the plots include the Terran plot but my Aldrin plot doesn't want to unlock.

For any DVD version download and apply patch 1.0.1-3.2 over your present game to resolve any patching or non-core gamefile issues. Try the game then. Are you using any 3rd party mods or scripts?

Please run and post a complete DxDiag after you have updated Win7 to Service Pack 1 and all other outstanding Windows updates.

You might have a corruption already permanently stored in your game saves, but we will address that possibility when we need to.

Your graphics card will be using up a lot of your 4 Gb RAM addresses as you have a 32 bit OS and that does not leave much available memory for a busy game. You could really do with the Win7 x64 OS and maybe a few Gb more RAM.

PS: Glad you saw the PM I sent you a while back.

i just want to mention that i did download all the update patches from egosoft and after i uninstalled and re installed the game i start fresh and delete the previous saved files, and the game is pure vanilla, no scripts or mods. i will update and post DxDiag again, i also did try 64bit but for some reason X3Tc keep crashing or i get bsod even after windows is update, thats why i am on 32bit Os i dont think my motherboard is compatible with 64bit Os

The MS7588 mobo in such as the MSI PC models P55M-GD41 and P55M-GD45 does indeed support Win7 x64. Their tech support does list a few teething issues and BSODs with the original release that required updating the BIOS from the manufacturer's site to resolve them though. Your BIOS is the default one I see.

I know that you have previously used patches, I advised specifically using the 1.0.1-3.2 patch over the top of your present game to eliminate non-core installation and patch issues though. I still recommend that as a confidence and elimination check. I need the full DxDiag after updates etc for further diagnosis.

See also http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=321005 about the BIOS update.

<No don't bother. That thread is just for the new combined AMD A6-3620 cpu/apu chips and not your Intel i5 cpu. Alan Phipps>
If it doesn't work, give it a kick. If that doesn't fix it hit it with a hammer. If it still doesn't work, USE A BIGGER HAMMER!!!

i have updated my pc and the game patch 1.0.1 - 3.2 and started the game where i last left it, noticed 2 changes i got a message saying i have a griffon ship waiting for me as reward from Operation Final Fury and a message that a argon ship was stolen :P the rest is still the same. i have blasted every Xenon ship in every Xenon sector i could find. They all just sit there and non has re-spawned so far only the ship yards and stations did re-spawn and for the rest of all the sectors there are still A.I ship friend and foe just idling.

the Aldrin plot still didn't unlock

what do you propose I do ?

You have Ffdshow and Haali codecs which are known problems for X3. Have you excluded X3AP and X3TC use of Ffdshow as per the Sticky on this forum? To get rid of Haali you have to uninstall the application or codec pack (such as k-lite or CCCP etc) that installed it otherwise it will keep being reinstalled. Try without those codecs in play and see if things improve.

By the way, the fact that you had plot advances that you hadn't been receiving until your repatch probably means that your game installation/patching was not correct, at least prior to the repatch.

i have removed the Ffdshow and the haali from my system and after i start the game nothing have changed.

what do propose i do next ? start over as the damaged might have already been done to my saved game ?

uninstall - re install and patch 1.0.1 > 3.2 from the start ?

i see the above as a last resort just thinking all about that hard work going to waste :P

We have done all the obvious and easy stuff. I think your main problem is that you just don't have enough RAM available to run the game properly once the Universe starts getting busy.

You have a 32 bit OS and 4 Gb RAM fitted. Your graphics card uses 1 Gb of the available addresses for its video RAM alone, then it can eat up another 1 Gb+ as shared graphics memory. Throw in the OS, drivers and services and you potentially have little more than 1 Gb RAM available for the game which can usefully consume up to 3.5 Gb on an x64 OS with more RAM.

Being short of available RAM, you will use pagefile/swapfile a lot. That is constantly reading/writing data to/from harddrive which is very slow compared to RAM and the disk must be kept unfragmented.

You need to minimise all background applications and unnecessary services while playing. GameBooster is a good download tool to manage that aspect.

Ultimately though you really need to reconsider an upgrade to Win7 x64 and only then perhaps fitting say another 2 Gb RAM if you want to see a marked improvement in gameplay. From what you said earlier, to do that you would have to sort out any issues with your system hardware, OS installation and BIOS. That is quite a daunting list of things to do and is not for the faint-hearted - especially if you intend to replace your system any time not too distant.

Oh well i have to agree with you on that one. is just i had a bad experience with 64 bit it was quite unstable on my system and would get random Bsod so thats why n went back on 32bit it can also be that the 64bit files on the cd self is screwed up or something, over all we went through every thing else i think it is save to say CASE CLOSED :)

Thanks for all your time and advice trying to help me :)
