Savage Split Start

Post by lankspeed » Thu, 26. Jul 12, 19:15

Hi, it has been sometime since I deleved into X. So it is time again to shoot out. I have a query which I read in here about flying salvaged ships.

Well I love playing Savage Split, and Poisoned Paranid. Now I discovered that if in savage split i fly one of the salvaged ships then the Argon never go blue even when i get to Hero of the federation.

But if I play from the start with out capturing and flying those ships it all seems fine.

Now My question is Does this also apply if I just capture them and sell them straight away I.e. the spoils of war?

Any help would be Nice.

Must add that CBJ's Script in the Director and gamestart were quite informative and I now write some of my own

Regards Lankspeed.

Note : I am at the moment playing The Unmodified version Not the Maximillion version ( My own)

They never go blue really? Did you check the friend/foe settings on the ships?

As Sinxar says above, check your friend foe settings and set 'if enemy to me' to yes. Do this only for your personal ship, all your others should be set to 'no'. :)
If it doesn't work, give it a kick. If that doesn't fix it hit it with a hammer. If it still doesn't work, USE A BIGGER HAMMER!!!

All the settings are correct. I already checked those.

So All I want to no is can I capture then sell them staight away with out boarding them just remoting them to a shipyard to sell.

The only other thing I can suggest is, if there is an Argon capital ship in the sector try apologizing for friendly fire, and see if it turns blue. If it does, then any remaining red ships may need apologies too. This could be a very large amount of ships!
Under the poisoned paranid start it seemed like I was apologizing forever! :)

Ahh I found that but that only happened with one ship (split battle waggon) I appoligsed then jump out. 10 mins more playing more split rep and jumped back in no problems.

You see I have now been playing Savage spilit for Two whole days (about 18 hours actual time) most of the systems are now Blue except the odd argon Flat Foot (police).

So my next stage is to start Capping in the pirate sectors (South of Merchant Haven is best) I use a Argon M3+ with a Hercules as a carrier, that is to start with. Have Phased Repeter guns and Hept ready.

When I have a full 9 ships Hercie Bird Jumps out to argon prime sells them Then it all starts again

I just wanted to no if this process will damage the Reputaions.
When I have a nice collection of M7, M7M M3+ I then start the missions.

I never do the terran they bore me.

Thanks for any other help , Best to all, Lankspeed.

It's not normal to have the Argon stay red to you because you're in a captured ship. It sounds like a glitch that may need you to verify the game files with Steam. Other than that, do you have any illegal goods in that ship you captured? If you do, that's may be the cause. Captured pirate ships often have space fuel or spaceweed onboard.

Well, your reputation will go down with whichever race you start capping from. The fact that you're in the pirate areas doesn't mean that the Paranids, for example, will love you for shooting their merchants.

It's manageable, though, if you do missions for them to repair your faction before it gets too low.

On the other hand, the Poisoned Paranid start starts you as enemy to Paranids to begin with, and you have 3 days to shoot them up all you want and get their ships and sell them in order to finish the mission you have to do, and then your reputation is fully reset to Neutral. And you get a rather nice ship as a reward, too. But, the downside is that you're a Paranid race in that start scenario. Though you may hate them less than you seem to hate the Terrans. Not sure.

Let me Clarify I only cap Pirates NOT transports of any type.
Also I am at the top Rep for all races when i start capping , I also have a mining complex in antigone and 2 trade ships linked to that with a XL Power plant. Also there are 10 Traders in Demeters at full 25 rating.

I am In Empire building mode

Also I always check for space fuel, weed, slaves ect.

Each Trader has 4 m3+ escorts.

This particular game has been running about 2 - 3 weeks.

The other one Savage split Only started on Monday. this week.

Lankspeed.

P.S. The moded game I run has a bug in one of the scripts and causes crashing hence why i am back playing vanilla  But this is not the place to discuss that.

Yet another Note: Will not now support Steam. I only Buy Real Games on DVD. I purchased something a few months ago and it turned out to just be a setup file that then download from Steam I was not Happy. Anybody really interested why then PM me. :(

Well, no illegal goods and no steam, possibly your game is corrupted. I can tell you that Savage Split is one of my favorite starts, and I've never observed the behaviour you mentioned in any of my SS games. :o

No it is not corrupt. But I have discovered why
It was related to how I started to get rep up with Argon.

It also appears if you sell The Spoils of War (Captured Ships) Rep does not change as long as I Only Cap Pirates. :D

Ok now having completed my tests it seems thst as long as I only sell the Captured goods (ship and equipment) and do not use it rep stays ok, that is as long as I stick to caping Pirates only.

So on answer to my origanal question is NO it does not effect Reputation as long as you do not use ships or Equipment.

Thanks for all the feedback it has been useful as pointers.

Try going to the advanced settings and changing your global friend/foe settings, then broadcasting to all reachable properties. You might have a ship that keeps attacking them under mistaken FF settings and is sending them hostile again.
