What settings for custom music (mp3 format)

Post by Sinxar » Fri, 3. Aug 12, 19:27

Thanks for taking the time to help me. I have a music replacement mod that is for the most part finished. However by using music in mp3 format it just sounds horrible and extreme low quality. I have gotten around this issue by using the wma format and it sounds like it should.

However I would like to use the mp3 format if at all possible but I don't know what settings to use so it sounds correct. I've tried 320kbs mp3s down to 96kbs and they all sound the same ingame, terrible.

The mp3s included with the game are mostly 128kbs ones so I have no idea what im getting wrong. Does anybody know what the problem is?

What i'm looking for is bitrate(variable, constant, if variable what speed) , channel information (mono, stereo, joint stereo etc) and anything else I would need to know to make mp3s work correctly.

You sir are a life saver. The quoted part is what I was missing. It didn't occur to me that my project Hz setting was too high, I edit/export at 48,000. Lowering to 22,050 fixed it.

Thank you LV!

Hmm it works in AP but not TC it seems. This is really frustrating. I guess i'll just stick with the wma format.
