X3AP Custom Sector Music! [Resolved: instructions included]

Post by |-|Mohawk|-| » Fri, 10. Aug 12, 18:36

UPDATED: I figured out how to do it. The X3AP files are stored in the X3TC directory in the folder named "addon." On my computer the path is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\x3 terran conflict\addon

So all you have to do is to create a folder named "director" in the "addon" folder, and put the xml file for custom sector music in the "director" folder (for more details see here: http://forum.egosoft.de/viewtopic.php?t ... highlight=). Problem solved!

I really hope someone can help me out with this. Is there any way to change the music that plays in a specific sector? I know how to do it in TC; I used this helpful tutorial here: http://forum.egosoft.de/viewtopic.php?t ... highlight=

But the problem is this method does not work for AP. I am using Steam (which may be part of the problem), and there is not a separate folder for AP; the AP .exe file is located in the TC directory (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\x3 terran conflict).

Is there a workaround for this? I know the code works with TC, but is it possible to get it to work with AP? Is there something in the code I need to change so it applies to AP instead of TC? Or is it possible to use the in-game script editor as a workaround? Anything?

AP uses the same soundtrack directory as X3Terran Conflict also installed by Steam, in there (soundtrack) you will find all the musicfiles installed.
For a list of music used in sectors see: http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=257804
You can change whatever you like.

edit: for the codes I don't know, I changed it in the X3 universemap, looked up my sector, thanx to the help of the mod on: http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=221731
and thanx to that I know now which sector to look for and changed the sectormusic (m="00027" as an example) in the x3 universe.xml

You actually helped me out here. Your idea about using the x3 universe.xml (although I'm not sure what that is) prompted me to start poking around in the X3 directory again. Lo and behold I overlooked something: there is a folder named "addon" in the directory; that's where you place the xml files for custom sector music. Success!

I'm going to edit my original post in case someone else wants to do the same thing I did and can't figure it out.
