Terran Conflict keeps crashing on me - apu issue fixed by BIOS update.

Whenever I run X3 TC, the game seems to run on some unseen timer. It'll crash (It'll freeze, generally just after a keypress. Left click seems to be the most popular, and then quit out) with the standard 'a problem has caused this program to crash' error message. The crashes seem to be entirely random, as I seem to play for a different amount of time before each occurs.

When I first encountered the crashes, my game was modded. I have since replicated it with an unmodded (except for bonus pack, but I really expect that to work with the game just fine) the game; the Terran Defender start crashed before I could leave the starting system.

The game ran just fine on an older computer, and I've tried running it on compatibility mode with both Vista and XP (Service pack 2). I also got the game from steam, if it makes any difference.

When i first installed, i had a crash every time I tried to enter President's End. In Steam, verify your local files. Mine were corrupted, and this found and fixed the problem.

@ InfinityWEAPON: You have a combined cpu/apu and they are well-known to crash with X3 if using the original issued BIOS. Use the motherboard/laptop support disk tools to update your BIOS to latest version (possibly a Beta) and the crashes should stop.

If that does not fix things, verify the gamefiles cache for X3TC if from Steam. If from DVD then apply the 1.0.1-3.2 patch oiver the top of your current game to replace all non-core gamefiles. See if either help.

Measures just to further improve gameplay: -

Your system is very low on both fitted RAM on your motherboard and VRAM for your graphics card. That is probably not helping. Since you have a 64 bit OS I am unsure why you have fitted so little RAM; X3 and all other applications will see real benefit from more RAM.

You can update to a 2012 RealTek HD Audio driver for Win7 x64 from the RealTek update site.

You have Cyberlink codecs which are known to have issues with X3. If you do not use or need them, I would uninstall the Cyberlink applications.
