It's more like a hypothetical question for me since I keep seeing the game core expanding. It was supposed to be a sim, than it now included FPS, so I just wonder if they will try RPG since it's next big category. And by RPG I mean an RPG proper.Corbet wrote: Are you planning to play SC as RPG?

Well it is still a space sim if you play it that way - all the other is just extra for you then. You can stay in your ship(s) as long as they will be not destroyed/captured. Most of the ships has beds you can "save" your game while you are not playing.
Maybe Squadron 42 is more what you are looking for. It is more like the original Kickstarter goal anyway. I'm pretty sure it will have some FPS missions as well which some people likes and some not.
As expected Star Citizen Alpha 2.6 will have some big updates to FPS-mode:

Head/face rendering still unfinished but it looks pretty good already:

Despite the topic I think this is pretty good article from Kotaku. Building a company from scratch and working on most ambitious game ever is not easy

Citcon Vid, skip to 1hr 25 (avoid blah blah) and get a really fantastic demo, very SWars and seamless.
I know it is taking a long time, I am cool with that by now, others not and that is cool too but this is really starting to look like a very solid basis both tech wise and gameplay.
I already like the dog fighting and the racing, the ground elements look top notch too.

As said anyone who has been following the project it wasn't a surprise that Squadron 42 was delayed. Star Citizen community was mostly disappointed that we didn't see the SQ42 gameplay demo as was intended.
There are still two other streams coming this year where we are most likely going to see the demo; Anniversary Livestream and Holiday Livestream.
To me highlights of CitizenCon 2946 were:
- Spectrum
- PG planetary tech v2
- PG planetary editor
Unfortunately the demo video above doesn't include the presentation Chris gave because he gave some insight about tech they are using. For example they have no skybox but all the space stations and planets are real object on the sky - you can see the space station wheels spinning. The visuals are still WIP and will get much better on next version. Planetary tech v3 will include dynamic weathers, much improved clouds, better shadows, etc.
I personally think the pace of the development has been rapid. CIG is working on two massive AAA games at the same time which is a big challenge alone.
A little info about the scope of SQ42.

Sorry, got the wrong threat last time.
What I posted over there: "As I see it right now the biggest problem SC has is performance. They need to get the PU to work on current mid range machines for 3.0, either that or they could simply push all performance issues till release in 2-5years and hope that hardware development will solve all their issues in the meantime.
(I know that performance is normally not that important for an alpha, but lets stay fair here, this game has a very long way to go till it hits beta and if you do early acess one of the drawbacks is that people actually want to be able to play they game before it's release.)"

"The problem with gender is that it prescribes how we should be rather than recognizing how we are. Imagine how much happier we would be, how much freer to be our true individual selves, if we didn't have the weight of gender expectations." - Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

How have you liked AtVs recently?Dupin wrote:Best AtV ever!
AtV yesterday was pretty breathtaking again; lighting / fog, new Aurora, Reclaimer, etc.
Are you evocati?

Edit - <sp>
Geez 150 Million, well given the sudden bout of bad press around the 100 mill mark it does not seem to have had much effect on the numbers signing up or pumping in more funds.
1.8 million signed up to web site, even if not actually paid in still a good number for a game that is still looking at 18 months until a decent sized beta.

Loved that game, but the grind... I some ways, it was worse than E.Q. Probably has changed quite a bit since I logged off, perched on my dragon on some mountain, somewhere. (I think it would prob rebind me to Org, since the zone has long been reset, I'd imagine.)
