[AP] Stocking missiles that are not sold

Post by Nick Northern » Thu, 25. Oct 12, 03:01

So, I am looking to stock up on missiles that are not sold in any factories (and no stations that produce them exist). I am looking for ideas to do this as easily as possible.

I never did do 'cloning' in TC, but I would be open to the idea if there was a way to clone missiles I have for a price, and not cheat them in for free. I know you can clone flails/hammers and other missiles sold at equipment docks, and I think there is a military base near the shipyard in CEO's Sprite, but none of these sell any missiles that are unavailable from missile fabs.

In particular, I am looking for...
Remote Guided Warheads
Disruptor Missiles
Hammerhead Missiles
Beluga Missiles
Banshee Missiles
and any others that are not sold.

I have tried putting them in the Hub and buying for max price, but that hasn't seemed to work.

The only way I can think of to get them so far, is to blow up ships using these missiles and then picking them up. Is this how everyone does it? I suppose this would be satisfactory if I could streamline the process of picking up the missiles without my ship stopping the fighting. Like, setting up a ship to collect wares in sector I suppose. If you pick up rare missiles this way, what ship/software do you use? What process do you go about making this work? What sectors do you farm in?

Any info on this topic is welcome.

Yeah, farming random drops seems to be the only way to get those. I've tried like you did to get weapons traders to sell them to me, but with no success.

Same story here, Xenon farming seems to be the most reliable source in my experience.

Yeah I think the Special Command Software is the way to go to collect those rare missiles... esp. since you can't build a fact to manufacture them in .... :(

I go to Grand Exchange at the Xenon gate and set up 20 laser towers, bring a TS in to 'gather wares' with two M6 escorts, then fly 25m Y of the gate and let the TS fill up while I do other things. Even the Js that come through the gate are toast in seconds. You'll be surprised at how little time it takes a TS to fill its hold, and how many different types of missiles the Xenon carry.

Where did I get this "gate camp" tendency? Hmmm...

Ahh! That is a great idea shadowburton! I never thought of that. I like the idea of being free to do other things. I need to build a lasertower complex. :)

I have the Xenon Hub set up with Queens Harbor/Queens Retribution, Argon Prime/Home of Light and Althes/Neptune. I'm friends with all of them so I will just set in that sector and watch the fireworks.

Just be sure to stay in sector. If you're out of sector your laser towers will be raped by just a few small ships. I lost 20 laser towers in less than 10 minutes when I left the system once. I have a Minstral I labeled specifically for the task. So if I'm in the mood to camp a Xenon gate, I wait until I'm ready to stop playing for the day and call my special TS in and switch to that ship, then set up the Lasertowers around the gate (in a ring around the gate 10m larger than the gate). I'll then fly off in my original ship by about 25km and start the TS on collect wares. Be sure to give your TS a small escort as roamers may come in through another gate and destroy your TS and all that good loot.

I meant 'do other things' in RL to be clear. I created two lasertower factories so I wouldn't have to travel forever to purchase them. They turned out to be pretty lucritive after I had my 20 for gatecamping.
