Question on Hub complexes and traders

Post by WeaponisedCookie » Fri, 16. Nov 12, 00:47

I finally managed to scrape together enough dough to buy this, I'm uncertain about what it actually does. I was hoping that the complex would be similar to a store and that the individual surplus could be purchased but it seems that's not the case. (I wanted to create a store that could sell the surpluses from the complex hub without any input from me)

I read around and now I believe that the complex hub is used for 'free' material to fuel the actual stations, which are built alone. Instead transports are meant to ferry the supporting material to the station one wants to profit off. Am I right in this assumption? I ask because the complex hub actually earned some money for me 260K. I didn't put any cash inside and saw AI transports docking there so it would seem that they're actually buying the product.

Several questions

1. Can I adjust the selling prices in the complex hub then? If not how do I bar the AI from using it? (related: I remember seeing an advanced option with a manager of some sort and what seemed to be price setting, but I'm not sure. I had to key in the prices twice, is this where I modify the prices?)

2. If I'm correct in my assumption that the station is only meant to generate resources to feed the factory of item one wants to sell, how do you go about automating the transports to automatically transfer energy/other needed material from the closed loop to the store? I bought all of the command/trade/navigation ect. modules I saw and still can't figure this out.

3. An unrelated question but, do traders with MK3 trading software actually make profits? I ask because I observed my trader, under the command of best buy, skip a cheap source of energy right next to him (12 credits) and jumped to the next sector and bought energy for 14 credits instead, I've been wary of any kind of automation since and have resorted to checking prices manually and ordering them to buy/sell their wares (I only have 3 trading ships as a result). Any advice on how to gain profits from traders?\

4. Also unrelated - Why anyone do the station building missions? Isn't it counter productive to grab a moderate amount of cash but have to deal with another potential competitor?

Download and install the bonus package. Your game will still stay unmodified and you will get the steam achievements. CAG will get rid of your excess products. Cls from the bonus package can be used also.

Build station missions produce competition but also produce customers.
