I escorting the Scabbard to Venus (i think) its one of the Terran Plot Missions, everytime i enter the sector and drive towards the east gate i just randomly blow up, no missiles, bullets, roids or ships are near me, it just keeps flashing up game over. Is this a common problem for anyone else? it has never happened to me before and i want to get the plot finished.
It's TC and yes it's a modded game - But i have used these exact mods loads of times b4 and nothing has happened.

There's a hidden minefield in that area. Normally, it's cleared out by various NPC's flying through the area if you frequent that sector. But that only happens when you're in sector. One of Egosoft's little surprises.
Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.

Yes, there are hidden (as in invisible) mines near the gate, on a path that would generally only be taken by the player trying to cut straight from one gate to another. I blew myself up on them about 15 times in a row trying to figure out what was causing it, convinced that I was doing something wrong.
It's one of the most ridiculous / pointless "easter eggs" in the game. Unlike the rest of the game which prides itself on strategy (i.e. plan ahead and you'll do well).
