[AP] Xenon Core 023 Station + Shipyard destroyed = less xenon in GE?
As the subject says, I dont spend a lot of time in xenon sectors, but i do know that xenon spawn randomly all over.
Decided to remove the station and shipyard in 023 to see if there is any effect (grand exchange is losing stations quickly in my game).
I originally tried putting 2 boreas on the gate of GE, but that didnt work out too well as soon as a J shows up one of the boreas gets hulled...

I think that the problem with too many Xenon invasions in Grand Exchange was fixed with the recent patch (2.5.1). If you have not updated your game, then you should do so.
Prior to the update, Grand Exchange needed serious firepower to hold off the Xenon invasions. A couple of M2's was not enough. I used Drone Carrier Software (DCS) (script) to solve the problem. Two M7's running DCS did the trick; one set to Defend Sector and the other set to Attack Target Nearest the first.
(DCS is a bit over-powered, but it is excellent for reliable OOS Sector Defense).

Peace through superior firepower

At the start of the game I had the same problem with too many Xenon overwhelming the RRF of the Teladi, but with enough money this invasions are no problem.
I think you took the wrong M2 for defending the gate. Boreas has too low shield to survive battle with a Xenon J or even a Q. I blocked in my game
6 Xenon gates up to now, the rest will follow. And I have no loss of an M2 at all, only few lasertowers.
Park 2 or 3 M2 with at least 10GJ of shielding in front of the gate together with 50 lasertowers. No Xenon will survive the first moment getting into that sector. You only have to replace now and then some of the LT and perhaps repair some of the ships with 10GJ shielding.
I had to repair 2 times my teladi phoenix parking in front of the xenon gate in Grande Exchange, because a J has attacked first the Phoenix and not the LTs. Now 2 Tyr are parking in front of that Gate and no J achieved to get through the shields any longer.
Only a possibility to stay vanilla and get rid of Xenon Invasions.
If you don't want to stay vanilla there are sure several possibilities to hold the Xenon gates. Like DCS as DrBullwinkle proposes.

Mens sana in corpore sano.
My experiences are similar to Roboute Guillaumes.
I was working off the logic that if you give the Xenon 200+ targets to aim for on exit from a gate, it dilutes the potential it can target your M1/M2 blocade ships immediately and they last longer at their role, so i added 200+ laser towers to my M2 gate pack.
If at least one of your M2's is targeting capitals, then there is a high enough chance the J's, K's and Q's can be eliminated before they target your capitals. I have had no capitals lost or reloads for that matter, for the entire duration of my TC game up to Xtreme combat rank. It could be different in AP, but I havent found that yet, so far.
This is ofc all predicated on the correct placement of your laser towers and combat settings for your capitals.

best of luck,

There was some anecdotal evidence on the forum a while back that destroying Xenon Shipyards might cause migrations of Xenon fleets from other Xenon sectors. Leaving the stations alone just meant normal in-sector Xenon spawning, if I recall that post correctly. I am not sure but it might have been Bill Huntingdon that said that.
Ah yes. For X3TC in this thread.

A dog has a master; a cat has domestic staff.
in X3TC there's a Xenon sector next to the unknown terran sectors.
some Q's and J's where exploring terran space from there.
there isn't a Shipyard in that Xenon sector.
I cleared the Xenon presence because they were attacking my ships.
after reading some posts I assumed a migration would take place.
then I noticed a Q jumping in, just in the middle of nowhere.
not through a gate, but the way Khaak sometimes spawns.
is migration limited to capital ships like K's and J's?
or is migration a myth after all?

That xenon sector is different then the others - it constantly spawns Qs and J/Ks without a shipyard. I have 2 bigger copmplexes next to it in TUS 1 and there is a constant flow of ships coming from that sector.DiArmada wrote:in X3TC there's a Xenon sector next to the unknown terran sectors. ...
And they do migrate sometimes in a weird way: once i saw a J and its escort ships pass through my whole sector - they went past 3 wings of 3-5 destroyers and one of my complexes unharmed and without doing any damage - then exited towards the HUB (i left it like the boron configured it).
I still have no idea where it went and how it got through my def without a shot fired

In AP, there is a little gotcha with that sector...DiArmada wrote:in X3TC there's a Xenon sector next to the unknown terran sectors.
Spoiler
Show
It has a North gate connecting to Xenon Core 023.

Its a bit of all in fact.
There are several type of Jobs for Xenon (and other races too). Some Jobs will only spawn if there is a Shipyard present, some other Jobs will spawn all over the damn place as long as its a Xenon Sector, some (very few) may even still be there that spawn in any sector.
Out of those Jobs only a few have Patrol "orders" and even fewer have long patrol as task. in GE its fun cause both the long ans short patrol will "invade" that sector. Unlike Zyarth's Dominion (north of the Xenon sector) where there are Specific Xenon Jobs spawning them just there.
So the real answer is: yes, it should reduce the number of Xenon in GE if you destroy the Shipyard, problem is it will be back soon™.
