AARG Flight School (X3AP)

Post by Mr. Reeves » Wed, 6. Feb 13, 19:00

The best way to play Albion Prelude is as a pirate.

The Rules:

1. Don't buy any ships. If you want a ship convince someone to "donate it."

2. Never reload. If it happened, it happend. However I refuse to give up the game if the A.I. flys me into an asteroid. If I die that way I reload.

4. Don't trade anything manually. I hire people to do that.

5. Pick on the weak.

6. Don't reload if you make a bad finantial decison. If I screw up I deal with it.

7. Only manufacture weopons and illegal goods.

8. Kill civilians and take their ships.

9. Don't go online and look at a map. If I find it I find it. If I don't I don't.

10. I have a special love of squash mines. And in this game I will explore new uses for them.

Day 1. 1 hour 20 minites played while I could not sleep.

I started as the Argon defender. I immidiately flew up to a paranid superfreighter and capped it. I blew up a few boron ships. I sent the super freighters to the shipyard and collected a cool 3 milion.

I spent the 3 million at the stock exchange and lost it all. :(

Mosquito missles are great for destroying fighter drones. I find that the silkworm missle is extremely useful for helping burn down m3 fighters

I use a flight stick and keyboard to engage targets.

In Argon space you can attack Parinid ships with no responce from the cops. Parinid are my preferred target because no one likes them much except maybe the Split.

Goal: Cap an M3 to use as a wingman.

The skunk really is a bare bones model. It doesn't even have a GPS to highlight the way. Or targeting software MK 2 to allow target selection and painting from the sector map. It lacks a Trading System Extention to show prices in the sector you are in. The lack of satellites in rebirth is also annoying to the trader/pirate looking for a mark.

Incorrect. The best way to play Albion Prelude is how YOU wish to play it. Never mind what other players say. You as the player are to do with it as you wish, there is no "best" or "correct" way to play.

If you're playing as a pirate, maybe you should avoid the stock exchange?

I have plans for the stock exchange involving genocide of the insects. Stay tuned.

The fact that i may make too much money by killing off a race is balenced by the fact I don't buy ships. As a known pirate fresh out of jail no one will sell me a ship.

Also I will save on insurance because I can't get insurance on stolen property!!! :)

I dunno. You can buy from the Yaki. Aren't they pirates too?

Day 2 time played 5 hours

As I sit in college on my break I write....

The good the bad and the ugly.

I captured several Parinid ships. Atleast 20. My haul was 7 million. In addition to my haul I'm starting to get the hang of the stock market. I made an additional 3 million by trading on the stock market.

i'm finding that M3 pilots do not bail in Albion Prelude as easialy as in the last installment. To deal with it I played the campain some and to my ever delightful surprise recieved one
Argon M6. I fitted it out with 4 CIG and 4 PRG up front. I'm thinking of changing the 4 PRG to Plasma Throwers. The rest of the M6 is fitted with PRG ordered to "protect ship."

I believe that I will inevitably need to buy some ships. But due to my hardship licence status the government will not sell me any. Even the Teladi know better than to sell a known pirate and murderer a combat ship. Perhaps it's time I visit the Yaki. Maybe they will understand. I have heard of them but don't know how to find them.

i have made efforts to find more gates. I have ordered my M6 "Bad Dog" to deploy a satilite network. This has paid out in multibles. Finding a target to capture is now as easy as eating apple pie. i simply check my corp spy network, find a target and jump in.

I need a wingman badly. My ship was badly damaged when I attacked a Parinid patrol of bombers. it is a mistake I shall not repeat. i barly jumped out alive.

todays lesson for pirate wanna bees: to abort a jump OOS (anywhere but here) press SHIFT J again. As soon as your shields start going down uncomfterably fast start the clock on the jump. Energy cells are cheaper than your ship. The only option if your ship is being destroyed is to eject.

tip 2 turn off confirmation on eject. scout enemy sectors in stolen M5 ships. I find they are the easyest fighter to "aquire"

Parinid, terran M3s do not bail in Albion Prelude for some reason. It sucks. Egosoft fix it! The bail percent chance for M3 is too low. Think about it if someone is holding a gun to your head while hitting you in the knees with a crowbar demanding your fancy watch you give the man your watch and live to fight another day. You don't not give the watch away and decorate the wall with your brains. So when I hold a ship at 0% shield for more than a minite and I'm sitting at 90 + shield I should win. It is obvious the TS captain has been made my bitch at my mercy. The TS captain would know that by then. And when I have the hull at sub 50% I should win. sub 35% and the pilot should have an itchy finger on the eject button.

As a final note I have been thinking of investing money and trying to profit. I have found 2 out of the rumored 3 stock exchanges. I want to open a laser tower/squash mine factory. Doing this will allow me to operate with a small fleet. It will be an open complex requireing the input of E-cells. I don't have the cash to do it right now though.

Day 3: A bad day for you buddy!

The day started really bad. I tried to capture 2 Tm's that were guarded by a large fighter escort. Unfortunately my flight stick malfunctioned (came unplugged) and I had to fight out the battle with just my mouse. Lucky that's all I used to have and I killed as many of them as I could before jumping out. I was very happy for my M3 because at 23% hull I thought there should be flames coming out from the rapid depressurization I experienced. The damage from loosing hull integraty was that half my extentions were destroyed including my trading system extention. So I couldn't control my fleet. Anyway I EVA repaired my ship back to 100 % and let the Tm's go. I'm sure I will see them again as one of them only has 30% hull left and hates me! I'm lucky this time that my jumpdrive remained intact. Else I would not have gotten away.

So today I tried very very hard to capture a personell transport. See as I need one badly for my master plan. After trying to capture the 30th one I decided f#@k this and bought a TM. I gave it a fair shot. I'm officialy declaring the TP bailing mechanic set at too low of a % chance. As a career criminal and pirate I must complain. As the part where I was supposed to capture the TP to get a TM obviously didn't work out. And what's up with m5's, 4's, 3's not bailing? when a tiger pounces on your back and starts knawing you should want to bail out of the situation. Ow well.... moving on....

last chance to bail dude...

http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set= ... =3&theater

But now I have a tm and a few m5 ships I can jump around and buy up jump drives and parts I need for my burgeoning fleet of stolen parinid TS. They were a great deal. All i had to do was patch the voltswagon sized holes.

I tried to cap an unknown object.

It was too fast and got away. By studying the sector map and using my sat network I worked out where it was heading and waited at the gate missle finger itchy. I couple of silkworm's really ruined it's day. I then proceded to peck away at it but it didn't bail. :( I'm finding getting ships to bail is harder in the latest installment of x3. The borons used to jump out of their ships. Maybe I need to repair my Unholy Aggressor status with the Parinid to Possible aggressor. If the boron ships are easier to cap I will go after them. I don't really like the boron or the Parinid. I prefer the Argon, Split, Yaki and Teladi.

I've really covered the sectors I have discovered in satilites. I bought a m3 nova secound hand from an Argon man. I didn't tell him my dayjob is capping TS ships.

[ external image ]

My best bet right now is to put Mk3 trading software on my TS fleet. I need more income. The stock market has really sucked lately and there is only so many ships I can steal. The Parinid don't come into my area as much any more. I never let their ships go. EVER. I kill every one I see because once they go under 50% hull I'm not interested in negotioating anymore. All weopons hot!!!

My next goal is to take the TM full of kestrals to the only place I know that sells jump drives. John ferco research station

If you have any questions about the game.... ask!

Day 3: Losses and gains. A 10 mill punch in the face.

No pictures today. I'm writing this from my schools computers.

So I started supplementing my income by playing the stock market. Piracy alone has not cut it. The bail chance is set too low. A few mill here and there and multiplied by the stock market. Right now I've barely sorted out my fleet to operational status. If I lose just one TS i'm in serious trouble. I can cap them just fast enough to replace losses.

Fleet resupply
Tm "Parts Supply" has been very busy jumping to John ferco research station in Albion. I lauch my fleet of 4 kestrals: Spare Parts 1, 2, 3 and 4. They dock at the station. i fit them with jump drives and other neccicery hardware and dock them at my Tm. The Argon TM does 101 ms and a jump drive so It gets where I want it fast.

I have fit some of my captured Parinid Demeter Superfreighter XLs with jump drives, best buys/sells locators and trading system extention. I have two of them. They are called Armory one and Armory two. They are busy scouring the known universe for 25 MJ shields, PRG, HEPT, Lasertowers, Tempest Missles and anything else I need. These ships are essential to my operations.

One TS is now a sector trader but is really horrible at his job. Most the time he is on standby. It pisses me off that his contract fee was 500K to sighn on and he can't make me a nickel. Sure I understand it's hazard pay but my gosh man put out or I'll shove you out of an air lock.

My first complex. My burgeoning fleet of Ts ships has been put to work. I hired a TL in Omecron Lyree. I bought 3 computer fabs. I now have them set up in the sector north of Argon M146. There are plenty of resources nearby but I have serious problems with treasure chest and nathans hideout. I can't do much about the problem because I lack the neccecery firepower. There is also a Xenon J capital in Grand Exchange that keeps shooting at the teladi stock exchange making me nervous. Grand Exchange is a money printer. Loosing it is not an option. I leverage my earnings from stealing ships using the stock market. If I loose the stock market I might have to be nice to people and grind missions out.

Speaking of missions I got my biggest payout yet. It was hell. i killed a yaki in Xenon 101 that was flying in the middle of an xenon fleet. I jumped out with 90% of my hull after lauching everything at the yaki m3. I say it was worth the panic of fighting while dodgeing IBL fire from 4 directions. i couldn't do it without my joystick. Payout was 2.5 million credits!!! See... just add motivation like a pile of money and i fly better!! :P

My immediate goal is to keep producing computer componets and set up a lasertower forge.

I lost more Ts ships than I can count and my ships log makes me cry so I don't look at it. I lost my fully fitted M6 to a Yaki pirate patrol. I'm upset as I have stated.... I lack the firepower to deal with the problem.

I have reached the top rank with the Argons. I am a hero of the Federation. I fear it is a rank I shall not keep long. I've got an eye to blow up a few competing computer fabs if buisiness is slow.
