Albion Plot Requirements

So, I'm trying to get the Albion plot to start up and noticed my Terran rep was just a little too high (Servant of Terra). I'm playing as Argon Peacekeeper so I decided to take out a few Terran ships and I'd be in business. Well... I did. My rep was still something like Planetary Senator and the plot started up. So my question is: Did I break the scripting or are the plot requirements more like guidelines?

I've gotten though the Hub plot and am into the HQ missions so I guess this is just for curiosity now.
