I believe that's the ware cost of producing the item, based on the price you've set to buy wares at.

So if you need 1 item X to create 20 item Y, and you set the factory to buy item X at 500, that number would be (500/20) = 25

In short, you have to set the sell of those ECs above that price in order to make a profit.

or reduce the price you are paying for the supplies.

E-Cells will not sell on there own for more than 15 Credits, so the best that SPP can do is break even, unless you have a ship selling the wares at best price.

That would be the min amount needed to brake even at the current cost of buying wares for your factory. In this case. The current buy price for crystal is set high enough that 15 credits is the minumum amount needed to brake even (not all ways as you could still be making a profit. It is just slow little that the game does not notice it) and if you sell for higher then 15 credits, you will make a profit. Now when jong factories to gether to for a complex (plex) that will disappear.
