How good to see there's a port of X3TC to Linux. So far I'm happy to see such good performance. This is smooth really :)

However, I'm running into a crash ( http://pastebin.com/LE3Xwsxh ). What I'm doing is basically trying to start the first mission, and I've come to the point where we go to Neptune. I jump, get out into Neptune, everything seems okay, and I guess there suppose to be a cut scene because the HUD is removed, everything halts and then after a while no more running X3TC :(

Please let me know if there's anything I can provide to help debug this.

Edit:
I've tried doing it multiple times now, and it crashed. Also, I'm running a nVidia card.

Edit2: This is definitely due to a cut scene or some special event. No mission and jumping to Neptune results in no crash.

Re-confirmed!

Entering neptune takes about 15-20secs for me, and then when the cutscene is supposed to happen... CTD!

Cheers.

Another one: I am unable to rotate the camera with the numpad keys while I press and hold the TAB key.

EDIT: Also the mouse wheel doesn't work in menus

EDIT2: Universe map and sector map have a strange tint:
http://ompldr.org/vaTRmeQ/x3screen00007.jpg

EDIT3: I am also not able to press multiple numpad keys at once. (For example 4 and 8 or 6 and 8 )

Game (build 2) segfaults soon after start. Even intro or menu doesn't show up.

Yep.

What driver and distro are you on? Did this start happening on build 2?

I can also confirm that the sector and universe map has a orangish brown hue in Build 2.

Edit 1: The orangish brown hue in the sector and universe maps are in all builds from 0 to 2.

Gentoo, AMD Radeon HD 7500G (A6 4455), proprietary driver 13.3 beta 3 (also tried 13.1 with same error). Here is log: http://pastebin.com/VAmtice1

With open source radeon driver there is no segfault, but no intro or menu shows. Music plays, I can hear menu items switching.

Another bug:

Starting X3TC creates a "teamApps" folder in ~/.local/share/Steam

EDIT: Please don't disable SETA while pressing the meta (Windows) key. It's a pretty common key for tiling wm users. I am not able to switch to something else while SETA runs or I will disable it. ALT+Tab doesn't do this.

Sorry for that amd crash, in a hurry part of the unfinished "blurry text" fix got through, and since I didn't have my "pure awesome dual nvidia+amd setup" up and running I didn't catch that one (fix'll be out in 30min).
The good news is I managed to get nvidia and amd evil drivers going in one system (not perfect but it'll do for now), and I've got a laptop with intel, and another pc with mesa r600g and r300g so "almost all your base are belong to us";)

Also tested with Kanotix distro (32 bit debian-based) with 13.2 beta 7 drivers (symlinked Steam directory). X3TC segfaulted like before, so bug is not connected to Linux distribution.

Found a bug in Build 3. When trying to add ships to a wing, say Blue Wing for example, the colour shown is red.

Edit: The colours for Green, Silver and White Wing displays the correct colour but the rest show an incorrect colour.

Thanks! It doesn't crash any more.

Here is another bug. Not so important though.

Great work, timon37!

I'm playing on fglrx-13.3_beta3 and so far didn't noticed any of "known bugs" (except that one in the last post - menu "screen" seems to be garbaged until you switch menu or do something else - then it will go back to normal).

One issue I'm suffering from which is not listed in known bugs is heavy unperiodic lags without any cause. I feel it's like good old "loading lag" as it seems to negate as I progress though game session (more LODs and models are cached).

Two curios points:
1. It does affect both logic and render threads - it's like 1-2 seconds full freeze and game do not "jump" after the lag (like it does during normal render lags).
2. It ssems to affect game/sector loading too - after load I hear sound of station announcement begin, but then everything freeze in black screen for 5-10 seconds more.

As it doesn't jump it doesn't affect gameplay, but really annoying.

That's Gentoo system, kernel 3.8.4. Could it be due to Video Memory overestimate (I've set it to 512+)?

I have the same lags while flying with SETA. Some of the lags are about as long as it is when entering a sector. I'm using Ubuntu 13.04 with an Nvidia card though.

I got this working fine on Gentoo, I'm using an AMD/ATI Radeon HD 6770 with catalyst 13.1, occasionally choppy in the graphics (on same machine on windows 7 it doesn't do this) Other than that working perfectly for me.

Beta is working mostly fine there on Gentoo on ATI Radeon HD6370M
glibc: 2.15-r3
kernel: 3.4.9-gentoo x86_64
ati-drivers: 13.1
xorg-server: 1.12.4

However, I do have some graphic issues

Minor problems are colors in sector and universe maps, encyclopedia, trade menu etc...:

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-L6xZ ... colors.png

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-iYdk ... colors.png

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-laK6 ... colors.png

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Wuy- ... colors.png

There are two more sewer glitches:

Atrifacts in main menu:

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-WPR5 ... 8/menu.png

Sometimes after warp/jump interface gets corrupted (save/load fixes that):
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-qi23 ... r_warp.png - see left panel

And the most gameplay affecting bug is that mouse wheel scrolling does not work at all.

The artifacts on the main menu must be AMD related because it displays perfectly on Nvidia.

Edit: Here's a screenshot of the main menu working perfectly with no artifacts on an Nvidia card. I'm only posting this to show it's an AMD issue.

Edit 2: I can also confirm no mouse wheel scrolling.

Excellent work on the fixes in Build 4 :) I can confirm that all the issues I reported are now fixed.
