Boarding Civilian TL

Post by Lukesharp » Thu, 6. Jun 13, 21:00

If I succed in boarding a hospital ship which has a number of invalids on board will they become mine to enslave and sell to Pirates or are they likely to all die/be lost? Can I even board a hospital ship?

Invalids and Passengers are just wares. They aren't individuals. Sorry.

And yes, you can board hospital ships, casinos and arenas, providing they're the TL variant and not TS's or TP's.

In answer to your second question: Yes, you can board a hospital ship, as long as it's a class that can be boarded (they're usually TLs, so yes).

In answer to your first question, they don't actually carry human cargo for you to capture, so no, you cannot enslave them.

You can occasionally force a 'passenger shuttle' or similarly named TP to bail, and then any individually named passengers aboard can be converted into slaves. This service is available at all good pirate bases ;)

Thanks for the info. I thought I'd finally found a way to do those annoying "bring me 350 slaves in 20 minutes" missions.

Yeah, slaves are a ware, just like energy cells and meatsteaks ;) Illegal in 4/5ths of the universe, but the Split happily trade in slave labour :) As Lukesharp noted, you can sometimes get missions to deliver large numbers of slaves to someone, but I've never amassed enough to be able to do those.

There are two ways to get a lot of slaves for those missions. The first, as mentioned above, is to capture TP's that are shuttles. Those can have up to 20 or more passengers, if you're lucky.

The second is to buy up all the low value marines you can find. Those make good, if somewhat expensive slaves. However, that cost is partially offset by getting rid of the worthless ones and thus allowing new, potentially better, marines to spawn. A lot of players do this anyway, so the slaves are just an added benefit.

And, if your trade rank is high enough, you can get 'slave delivery' missions worth millions, more than making up for the cost of the marines. :fg:

Just pick up all those pilots who bail on you, and those who sell you a used ship and don't have a ride. Take them to the nearest pirate base, go to your inventory screen, then you can select those recovered spacesuited passengers and convert them all to slaves. 350 would be a lot to gather up, though, even over the course of the game.
